Shu Chao, 71, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Chao was declared missing by her daughter January 15. Chao was last seen around 10:30 p.m. the previous night. Chao suffered from other medical issues, authorities said. Officers arriving to check on the welfare of a woman down on the ground near the Alhambra Golf Course, 630 S. Almansor St., January 17 found her unconscious near an access road to the flood control channel. She was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Chao’s cause of death has been deferred pending additional investigation. Caleb Nathan Middleton, 25, was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark pants. Middleton is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. His vehicle was recently found in Glendale, according to the Alhambra Police Department. Few details are available at the time this story was published.
Not immediately known is when Middleton was reported missing, when his vehicle was found unoccupied, or why he was reported missing. The woman was found late Monday near Fremont and Montezuma by the I-10 freeway. As stated, the woman has no identification and is unable to tell officers where she is from, Alhambra Police said. Anyone who can identify the woman is urged to call the Alhambra Police Department at 626-570-5151. |
