Residents reported hearing a hail of gunfire just after 9 p.m. January 31. First Responders were sent to the 100 block of North Azusa Avenue to investigate the gunfire and found a victim with wounds to his upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Investigators apparently have no suspect information. It is not publicly clear if a motive was established, or if more than one firearm was used in the shooting. The crime appeared to take place between the Mobil gas station and a carwash just north of 1st Street. Yellow evidence markers dotted the asphalt to the east and west of the gas station. Two bicycles were left discarded near the gas station and carwash. Across Azusa Avenue to the east, an officer meticulously searched the lawn of the adjacent Azusa Health Center for spent shell casings or bullets. First responders were called by the gunshot victim to an Arco gas station, 100 N. Azusa Ave., just after 9:30 p.m., Friday, July 7. The man reportedly was shot through the abdomen, but alert and seemingly unphased. Officers attempted to get more details on the shooting, but the victim was apparently uncooperative, according to the Azusa Police Department. Officers searched the area, but could not find any evidence of a shooting occurring there. It is unclear exactly where the victim was shot, why he was shot, and if he was dropped off near the gas station in a vehicle, or perhaps fled on foot. The juvenile was shot outside of 260 E. Newburgh Street. First responders were sent to the location at 9:32 p.m., according to Jennifer Wu, Azusa Police Department public information officer. The juvenile was hospitalized and last listed in stable condition. The identity of the suspect is reportedly still unknown. Aaron Foley, 28, was identified as the gun-toting suspect. He and his vehicle were located in Covina May 5 and he was taken into custody without incident. The shooting took place in the 600 block of North Alameda Avenue around 5 p.m. The three victims claimed they and Foley were involved in an altercation where hostile glances were exchanged in Glendora, according to the Azusa Police Department. Foley, a Montclair resident, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder. County booking records were not readily available. Detectives are searching for additional evidence in this shooting. First responders were sent to the 800 block of South Cerritos Avenue at 11:37 a.m. April 28. Patrol officers were able to quickly identify a suspect vehicle which led Azusa police detectives and patrol officers to locate said vehicle and take one suspect into custody, according to the Azusa Police Department. Two more juvenile suspects were identified and their locations were discovered. With the help of a search warrant, the Azusa Police SWAT team located the suspects. All three suspects were arrested without incident. Police have yet to provide details on the shooting itself, including a motive, or if anyone was targeted. “The Azusa Police Department prioritizes the investigation of gang and juvenile crimes with utmost seriousness. The search for further evidence related to this case is currently in progress,” according to the Azusa Police Department in a written statement. The shooting took place in the 600 block of North Glennfinan Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11. Detectives do not believe the shootings were gang related, according to Cpt. Christian Peña, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the leg. The death was ruled a homicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A passerby saw the naked body face down in the dirt off to the side of the 2000 block of San Gabriel Canyon Road just before 6:30 a.m. February 13. Detectives believe that Peña was shot elsewhere and dumped along the mountain road after detectives were unable to find any shell casings, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Investigators did not have a California ID for Peña, but noted that he last listed New York as his state of residence. |
