Investigators located the 1998-2002 silver four-door Honda Accord Thursday around 2:30 p.m. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Sheriff’s Industry Station, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Surveillance video caught the hit-and-run, which occurred at the intersection of Azusa Avenue and Gemini Street Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. The driver, only described as a man, was southbound on Azusa Avenue while the victims were crossing eastbound from the west curb line on Gemini Street. The driver failed to stop for a red light and struck both victims who sustained minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect’s name is unavailable at the time this story was posted. The suspect is still in the process of being booked, according to Lt. Kearney of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies are attempting to obtain a suspect description. The victim was reportedly shot in the river bed near the 605 freeway and the I-10 freeway, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. El Monte police officers were first called to the scene at 8:17 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies were later notified. A helicopter is first searching by air to pick up any possible heat source left by the gunman who was apparently last seen fleeing through the wooded area west of Azusa Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. First responders arrived to Azusa Avenue and Gemini Street around 5:01 p.m. A suspect description is not publicly known, nor is the motive. The victim’s condition is not immediately known. A deputy on patrol witnessed a reckless driver drive through a red light at the intersection of Gale Avenue and Azusa Avenue eastbound. The deputy attempted to locate the driver to initiate a traffic stop and eventually found the suspect had crashed into a traffic light In the 18200 block of Gale Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect attempted to flee the crash vehicle as the deputy arrived on scene. The suspect apparently was armed. The deputy open fire, but did not strike the suspect. No one was injured in this incident. The suspect was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene. INDUSTRY - A major crime incident is being investigated in the area of Gale Avenue and Fullerton Road after an incident led to deputy gunfire Tuesday night. The suspect sustained injuries considered not life-threatening during a previous incident and was taken to a nearby hospital, according to Sgt. Armando Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The incident occurred in the 18200 block of Gale Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. February 16. It is not yet clear what led to the shooting. A traffic collision occurred minutes before the police shooting and is likely related to the shooting, Martinez told SGV CityWatch. A gun was reportedly recovered at the scene. A large contingent of the deputies from surrounding Sheriff’s stations are on scene assisting with maintaining the crime scene, as well as detectives from the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Streets bureau. A passerby discovered the body near Workman Mill Road and Crossroads Parkway just before 8:30 a.m. December 11, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Tactical medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the scene. It is not publicly known if foul play is the cause of death. Two shootings occurred within the span of a few minutes. The first occurred at Gale Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard around 1:08 a.m. August 7. In Hacienda Heights. A second deputy shooting occurred in the 13300 block of Crossroads Parkway in Industry, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies have just exited the flood control tunnels under Temple Avenue near Valley Boulevard after fresh, wet tracks left by the suspect disappeared. The suspect remains outstanding. Deputies originally tried to pull over the alleged DUI driver in the area of Temple Avenue and Baldwin Park Boulevard about one hour ago. The pursuit found its way to the northbound 605 freeway and eventually exited onto eastbound Live Oak Avenue where the driver evaded officers recklessly, driving on the wrong side of the road and running through stop signs through Baldwin Park. Deputies on the ground canceled their pursuit, allowing a helicopter to track the driver’s movements until he decided to flee from his SUV on foot and run into the San Gabriel River, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The shooting occurred near Railroad Street and Azusa Avenue. Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances behind the shooting. No deputies were injured, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Industry deputies responded to the above location on a report of a person possibly hit by a train. Deputies discovered a man kneeling next to some railroad tracks. The man, armed with a knife, rose to his feet and lunged towards deputies, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. After being shot, the male was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. |
