Firefighters have gone an estimated 60 to 80 feet into the flood control channel under the 60 freeway, but have yet to find the seat of the fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. Deputies responded to the mall, 1600 S. Azusa Ave., around 11:30 p.m. The man who was stabbed was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, a white man age 30 to 35 years old, was found on a sidewalk outside the mall. A suspect was later arrested and a knife was recovered at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Deputies and Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to the 1600 block of South Azusa Avenue around 9:40 p.m. March 13. The victim, only described as a female adult, was hospitalized where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Los Angeles County fire fighters were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. They were on scene six minutes later and transported the victim at 9:54 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County fire department. “After a preliminary investigation was conducted, it was determined the pedestrian death was not a homicide. The additional investigation will be conducted by LASD Traffic Services Detail,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau in a written statement. Deputies are sorting through a confusing patchwork of stories given by the male who suffered the gunshot and a mysterious female caller who allegedly was also injured by gunfire, according to Lt. David Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Los Angeles County Firefighters were dispatched to South Brea Canyon Road and Spanish Lane just before 6 a.m. February 14. Deputies had to repeatedly ask both the mysterious female caller and the wounded male how the injuries came to be. The female caller stopped answering questions and could not be located, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. The wounded male said he was shot by a suspect carrying a shotgun at Brea Canyon Road and Valley Boulevard. A description was given, but deputies are questioning the validity of the description as well as the location given. The wounded male was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. A nearby Ring camera reportedly recorded what sounded like gunfire in the area and are trying to pinpoint the location, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. A deputy on patrol witnessed a reckless driver drive through a red light at the intersection of Gale Avenue and Azusa Avenue eastbound. The deputy attempted to locate the driver to initiate a traffic stop and eventually found the suspect had crashed into a traffic light In the 18200 block of Gale Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect attempted to flee the crash vehicle as the deputy arrived on scene. The suspect apparently was armed. The deputy open fire, but did not strike the suspect. No one was injured in this incident. The suspect was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene. INDUSTRY - A major crime incident is being investigated in the area of Gale Avenue and Fullerton Road after an incident led to deputy gunfire Tuesday night. The suspect sustained injuries considered not life-threatening during a previous incident and was taken to a nearby hospital, according to Sgt. Armando Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The incident occurred in the 18200 block of Gale Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. February 16. It is not yet clear what led to the shooting. A traffic collision occurred minutes before the police shooting and is likely related to the shooting, Martinez told SGV CityWatch. A gun was reportedly recovered at the scene. A large contingent of the deputies from surrounding Sheriff’s stations are on scene assisting with maintaining the crime scene, as well as detectives from the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Streets bureau. A passerby discovered the body near Workman Mill Road and Crossroads Parkway just before 8:30 a.m. December 11, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Tactical medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the scene. It is not publicly known if foul play is the cause of death. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is now investigating. The shooting occurred near Railroad Street and Azusa Avenue. Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances behind the shooting. No deputies were injured, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Industry deputies responded to the above location on a report of a person possibly hit by a train. Deputies discovered a man kneeling next to some railroad tracks. The man, armed with a knife, rose to his feet and lunged towards deputies, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. After being shot, the male was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Nothing has been publicly revealed of the person who was found dead at the fire, which was dispatched to firefighters just after 3:30 a.m. in the 14600 block of Proctor Avenue. More than 50 firefighters worked to contain the blaze, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A second-alarm response was called for additional resources to help with extinguishing difficult-to-access hotspots and a lengthy cleanup, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. Pallets were stacked 20 feet high at the yard and roughly 50 percent of the pallets in the yard were in flames, according to L.A. County Fire radio traffic.
Firefighters were pumping more than 350 gallons per minute at one point during the initial response and requested higher water pressure to supply the numerous large-diameter hose lines. Cause investigators are examining the start of the fire. Deputies were called to Los Angeles County Fire Station 43, 921 S. Stimson Ave., around 4:16 p.m. The man was taken to an area hospital and refused to cooperate with deputies, according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies were unable to obtain a suspect or vehicle description or how the man wound up with a gunshot wound. |
