Javier Jose Velasquez Grimaldo, 24, of Rowland Heights, was found lifeless on Brea Canyon Road near the southbound 57 freeway around 4:20 a.m. August 27. Grimaldo was southbound on the 57 freeway in a 2004 Mazda 3 when, for unknown reasons, he veered left, struck the center divider and rolled his vehicle, which came to a rest on the right shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol. Grimaldo exited his vehicle and allegedly tried to force his way into a parked big rig on the right shoulder, the CHP said. The driver of the big rig, an Apple Valley man, fled in fear of his life. The rig, which was still running, began moving with Grimaldo clinging to it. He then either jumped, or fell from the big rig and onto Brea Canyon Road, the CHP said. An autopsy has yet to be performed. |
