Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man who tried to stop a box truck rolling away from his driveway ended up being run over by the same truck Saturday.
The victim forgot to set the parking brake after exiting the moving truck in the 1200 block of North Mountain View Drive around 2:20 p.m. The victim tripped as he tried to get back in to stop the truck and was run over, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The victim’s legs were run over and the truck came to rest on top of the victim’s right leg, DeMond said. Police arrived to secure the truck while Los Angeles County firefighters used airbags to lift the truck off the victim, DeMond said. The victim was transported to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora where he was then taken to County/USC Medical Center by helicopter. The robbery took place at Albertsons, 133 W. Route 66 around 9:08 p.m. The suspect was leaving the store with the alcohol when an employee tried t stop him. After alluding he had a weapon, the suspect fled the store on foot southwest. Witnesses lost sight of him after a few moments, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. Police and a helicopter looked for the suspect, only described by Layaye as wearing black glasses, but he could not be located. |
