The man was spotted on the transmission tower near the 210 and 57 interchange September 2. First responders were called to the location sometime around 4:50 p.m. The man climbed a little more than halfway up the transmission tower. He could be seen holding a large piece of rope, which was tied to the tower. The Los Angeles County Fire Department, Glendora Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department all responded. The man climbed down to safety sometime before 5:20 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is unclear how the man accessed the tower. At 10:22 p.m., firefighters head forward progress stopped. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officers and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the 200 block of South Vista Bonita Avenue around 8:49 p.m. Officers were called to a report of gunfire heard and located the wounded man. The vehicle is parked on the street, according to Lt. Mike Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The 200 block of Vista Bonita remains closed for a death investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - The uninjured driver accused of crashing into a garage and severing a gas line that ignited a destructive fire Wednesday was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI.
Wanda Lewis, 52, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. She was booked at 6:26 p.m. and later released on a citation at 8:30 p.m., according to Los Angeles County booking records. Lewis was the only occupant of the SUV that smashed into a garage in the 2400 of Curtis Court December 28, according to Sgt. Josh Price of the Glendora Police Department. Lewis was able to free herself from the twisted wreck before the gas line ignited, Price told SGV CityWatch. The crash and fire heavily damaged a garage, burning property inside and burning the crashed SUV. As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, other firefighters worked to pull the SUV off the gas line that fed the flames that burned the garage and crashed SUV. Court date information for Lewis was not readily available. Los Angeles County Firefighters Report that one person died at the scene, according to radio traffic. One patient was extricated and transported in full arrest. The closure affects the 1400 block of East Route 66, which is just west of Compromise Line Road. The Glendora Police Department issued a message to warn drivers of the road closure. The victim was treated for his injuries and was released from the hospital, according to Detective Sergeant Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department.
GLENDORA - A suspect accused of shooting a man inside a supermarket Monday was arrested in Pomona, the Glendora Police Department announced. Larry Ronnie Bravo, 25, was found in Pomona at Noon June 21 and taken into custody, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting was not random and stemmed from a likely ongoing domestic issue. Bravo shot his victim inside Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd., according to the Glendora Police Department. First responders were called to the supermarket around 8:59 p.m. Police officers and Los Angeles County firefighters treated the victim and he was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported gunshot victim in the area of Grand Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 9 p.m. Monday, June 20. One patient was transported. The victim’s condition was not publicly known, according to Dispatch Supervisor Jeremy Stafford of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Users of the Ring app reported a shooting at or near Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd. A Glendora resident who was out for an evening walk two streets away from the Vons heard at least two gunshots soon followed by the wailing of police sirens. “We were in the parking lot shortly after the cops arrived on scene and the fire trucks were there as well. The fire trucks were blocking the views of the entrance. Cops were hustling around for supplies from trunks,” according to the resident who asked her name not be used. “The scene was VERY active and we chose to get out for safety reasons as cops were just rushing in and it didn’t seem like it was a contained scene yet,” according to the resident. Fire trucks had already left the scene and crime scene tape was set up outside the store when the resident returned 20 to 30 minutes later. Employees were standing at the front entrance along with other officers. Other officers appear to be searching at least one vehicle, according to the resident. It is unclear if anyone is in custody. Police and firefighters were called around 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to the Glendora Walmart parking lot, 1950 Auto Center Dr., June 2 on a report of a man down possibly suffering a medical emergency. The man was pronounced dead there, according to Lt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Officers believe the man died from natural causes, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner will determine cause of death. Donna Emery, 55, was the woman found dead at Finkbiner Park, 160 N. Wabash Ave. May 23. Her cause of death was deferred, pending additional investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Police and firefighters were called to the park at 1:08 p.m. It was not immediately clear where the death occurred at the park, or what led Glendora Police officers to quickly deduce that it was a suicide. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - About 400 marijuana plants were removed from a home that caught fire in the northern end of Glendora Thursday afternoon, a police sergeant said.
No one was found inside the home after firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames in the 600 block of West La Crosse Street. Firefighters reported flames from one side of the home believed to be caused by an electrical issue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was reported before 2:50 p.m. September 2. All the plants were seized and removed from the single-story home that afternoon, Layaye told SGV CityWatch. The house was set up with ventilation and irrigation systems. It was not immediately clear how long the operation was running before being discovered. No arrests were made at the time the interview was conducted Friday afternoon. Detectives were in the process of contacting the home owner, Layaye told SGV CityWatch.
