Tywan Lamont Brown, 25, DiJonn Cooper, 25, and Amber Dayanara Echeverria, 20, had charges officially filed against them November 14 by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Echeverria was additionally charged with felony evading. Cooper was additionally charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a public place or vehicle, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records. Police gave chase to the three suspects who fled the scene of a residential burglary in the 100 block of North Catherine Park Drive just before 3 p.m. The driver refused to stop and led police on a chase until the driver crashed at Glendora Avenue and Route 66. Brown and Cooper allegedly ran from the crashed vehicle, leaving Echeverria behind. A multi-agency search helped to corral the suspects hiding in a yard in the 600 block of South Minnesota Avenue. Cooper and Brown are being held in lieu of nearly $1.3 million bail. Echeverria posted bond and was released November 16. All three suspects are scheduled for an appearance in the West Covina Courthouse November 28. Officers responded to a report of a home burglary in progress in the 100 block of North Catherine Park Drive just before 3 p.m. Witnesses were able to provide a suspect vehicle description. Officers found the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, according to Lt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The driver failed to stop and attempted to elude officers. The driver reportedly went through a red light at Glendora Avenue and Route 66 where the suspect broadsided an SUV, which turned over. Two other vehicles were struck during the crash, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. The two male suspects were able to escape on foot and left their female compatriot behind. With the help of a Pasadena Police helicopter and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station, the two suspects were taken into custody in a rear yard in the 600 block of South Minnesota Avenue, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. A driver in one of the vehicles struck was hospitalized. Henderson wasn’t sure if any property was successfully taken from the home. Booking information for the suspects is still unavailable. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A suspect was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault on an officer after he allegedly backed his SUV aggressively towards a deputy during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Frank Hernandez, 47, is accused of backing his blue Chevrolet Silverado aggressively during a traffic stop at 13736 Valley Boulevard in Industry. The action forced the deputy to leap out of the way, according to Lt. David Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The incident occurred around 11:37 p.m. “As the deputy approached the vehicle, the suspect suddenly put his vehicle in reverse, rapidly backed up toward the deputy, causing the deputy to jump out of the way to avoid being struck,” Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. The suspect took off with the deputy pursuing west on Valley Boulevard. The pursuit stuck to surface streets at mostly 50 miles per hour, at times reaching 90 into Irwindale where the suspect fled east on Foothill Boulevard. Hernandez suddenly stopped on east Route 66 at Lorraine Avenue, fled the vehicle and disappeared briefly, before walking back to deputies to surrender, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. It is not immediately clear if Hernandez discarded illegal property before surrendering. A motive for fleeing is not immediately clear. Hernandez is being held in lieu of $201,250 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Rio Hondo Municipal Court in El Monte December 11. Before the pursuit even began, 41-year-old stolen vehicle suspect Richard Brady allegedly struck a Glendora officer and struck two Glendora Police vehicles while attempting to elude capture, the Glendora Police Department announced. A stolen SUV was discovered in an undisclosed motel parking lot. Glendora officers and detectives attempted to detain Brady as he was leaving a motel room, but he was able to get away, Glendora Police said. Brady struck the officer, patrol cars and an additional parked vehicle before even leaving the parking lot. Brady fled west on the 210 freeway until he crashed near Citrus Avenue and fled on foot, but he caught with the assistance of Azusa Police officers, Glendora Police said. “Brady is on probation for vehicle theft and he also had an arrest warrant for theft,” Glendora Police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the case against Brady, charging him with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless evading, vehicle theft and forgery. The officer who was struck sustained injuries and has since returned to work, Glendora Police said. An officer spotted the driver on Glendora Mountain Road around 12:14 p.m. and attempted a traffic stop of a white 1992 Honda Civic, but the driver refused to yield, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The driver, Cesar Efran Figueroa Jr., 22, led police on a reckless pursuit on city streets through Glendora and into Azusa where the pursuit entered the westbound 210 freeway, DeMond said. Figueroa also reportedly drove in opposing lanes of traffic while evading officers, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. The pursuit entered the south 605 freeway and the driver eventually stopped after 15 minutes and surrendered near the I-10 freeway, DeMond said. Figueroa was booked on suspicion of felony reckless evading, driving on the opposite side of a divided highway and excessive speed, Randazzo said. Figueroa is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles, awaiting a scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse September 18. The suspect crashed in the area of Grand Avenue and Cortez Street. West Covina Police have a containment search set up to find the suspect. Glendora officers attempted to pull over the pursuit driver around 10:13 p.m. at Glendora Avenue and Baseline Road. The pursuit was terminated at Glendora Avenue and Juanita due to the suspect’s reckless driving, according to Sgt. Shawna Celello of the Glendora Police Department. The rider was detained and arrested about 10:52 p.m. on southbound Lope Lane, which is south of Route 66. The pursuit began on the eastbound 210 freeway near Grand Avenue. The rider refused to stop and led the CHP east into Claremont and Pomona at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to California Highway Patrol radio traffic. The pursuit wound its way along Garey Avenue north and south in the Pomona area and west along Foothill Boulevard in La Verne before reentering the 210 freeway westbound. The rider exited north on Lone Hill Avenue in Glendora and found his way south into the neighborhoods on Lope Lane before fleeing on foot. The rider was almost immediately detained and arrested. |
