Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A man previously believed to be armed with a handgun was holed up in a Hacienda Heights home for nearly four hours before surrendering.
The unidentified suspect surrendered to Sheriff’s deputies and descended from his perch on the roof of the home in the 16600 block of Carriage Place. The suspect was likely arrested on suspicion of felony assault. Sheriff’s detectives will execute a search warrant and conduct a felony assault investigation at the home, according to Tim Murakami of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. Crisis negotiators and the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau worked to help bring the solution to a peaceful end. The incident began around 12:30 p.m. Deputies worked to evacuate nearby homes after it was believed the suspect fired at least one round of ammunition in the home, according to Sgt. Gutierrez of the Industry Sheriff's Station. The suspect was seen on television news footage and appeared agitated and removed some of is clothing at one point. No injuries were reported. |
