Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - Glendora Police took a man into custody Thursday afternoon and deploying tear gas to flush him out.
Ivan Morales Martinez, a 29-year-old Glendora man, was arrested after surrendering in the 13000 block of East Amar Road November 1 after initially refusing to surrender for several hours, according to Cpl. Shawna Celello of the Glendora Police Department. Glendora Police detectives responded to a report of domestic violence around 10:45 p.m. Martinez’s wife claimed he hit her and threatened to kill her, Celello said. Martinez was tracked down to a relative’s home in La Puente. After he barricaded himself, the Foothills Special Enforcement Team was mobilized to help bring a peaceful end to the situation. Martinez was reportedly armed with a handgun and fired off one round in the home during the barricade, according to police radio traffic. Martinez surrendered around 5:02 p.m., Celello said. Martinez was booked on suspicion of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and negligent discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.
