The collision occurred on the tracks south of Arrow Highway at San Dimas Canyon Road around 6:10 a.m. The tracks between the Pomona North station and Covina station remain closed, according to Metrolink. MTA buses are assisting riders on cancelled trains. Riders can drive down to the Downtown Pomona station and take the Riverside line to Los Angeles. A Covina officer attempted to stop the driver of a black Audi around 12:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Grand Avenue. The driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase along Cienega Avenue east to northbound Glendora Avenue and then east along Arrow Highway all the way into La Verne, according to Lt. Zavala of the Covina police Department. The driver crashed into a computer business at 2100 Arrow Highway where he and his two passengers fled as the Audi caught fire. Officers were able to catch only two of the suspects, Zavala told SGV CityWatch. Officers discovered and seized M30 pills: OxyContin laced with Fentanyl, Zavala told SGV CityWatch. Gabriel Morales, a 20-year-old Huntington Park man, and Adrian Paredes, a resident of Maywood, were arrested. Morales is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Paredes was held for detention only and released February 14, County booking records show. Morales appeared in court February 15 and pleaded not guilty to one count of reckless evading a peace officer and to one count of hit and run causing property damage. All occupants fled the home in the 1800 block of Baseline Road. Firefighters were sent to the scene at 5:34 p.m., according to the La Verne Fire Department. The fire burned in an attached garage and spread to the attic. Firefighters from both La Verne and from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were able to knock down the fire before it reached the home, according to the La Verne Fire Department. Firefighters were sent to the 5500 block of Finch Street October 7 just before 2:30 a.m. Dramatic images from the La Verne fire department showed flames shooting out from the roof. With help of Los Angeles County firefighters, the damage was held to just the garage and the attic. The home itself was not damaged, according to the La Verne fired appointment. The fire burned at the storage business, 1640 N. White Ave., just before 5 a.m. September 4. The fire was extinguished with assistance from Los Angeles County firefighters, West Covina fire fighters and Montclair firefighters. The injured fire fighter has since been released from the hospital, according to the La Verne Fire Department. The La Verne Police Department and fire department are working to determine the cause. Firefighters were dispatched to location at 2:56 a.m. May 23. Firefighters ultimately got control of the flames at 3:12 a.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is not immediately clear how large the fire grew before flames were under control. The La Verne Fire Department assisted county resources with extinguishing the fire. “The cause appeared to be illegal fireworks but is still under investigation,” According to the La Verne Fire Department in a written statement. Police responded to a medical call at Ramona Middle School, 3490 Ramona Ave., October 26 around 10 a.m. Police found and were able to awaken Nathan Thompson, who exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the La Verne Police Department. A search of Thompson revealed a concealed handgun, La Verne Police said. “There was no danger to the students on campus and no time did the subject come into contact with any students on campus,” La Verne Police said in a written statement. Thompson was booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm in a school zone after being medically cleared by La Verne firefighters. Court date information for Thompson was not available. This is the second deadly crash to occur near the airport in as many days. The pilot died at the scene, according to Sgt. Justin Newman of the La Verne Police Department. A Beech Bonanza aircraft may have clipped a tree, according to Elizabeth Cory of the Federal Aviation Administration. Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to provide assistance to La Verne firefighters at 11:54 a.m., four minutes after La Verne Police received call of the crash. Aerial footage from KTLA 5 showed a blue tarp draped over the cockpit of the plane. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash. The crash was reported just before Noon. The crash caused a small fire which was extinguished by La Verne Firefighters, who were assisted by Los Angeles County Firefighters. There has been no official word on the extent of injuries, but according to footage broadcast by KTLA 5 news, a blue tarp was placed over the cockpit of the crashed plane. No further information is available. It was unclear if the plane crashed while in flight, or if the plane was taxying on a runway or even at the airport at all. A representative from Brackett Field was unavailable to provide details.
