The victim was reportedly knocked out during the robbery in the 900 block of East Huntington Drive. Officers were called to the scene at 9 p.m., according to the Monrovia Police Department. Employees of a nearby business called to report the crime. The suspect was not located. The theft took place around 10:52 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Myrtle Avenue March 24. The victim drove to the business with the cigarettes to replenish his stock. Three suspects then arrived in a vehicle, according to the Monrovia Police Department. “Within a few seconds a vehicle drives up and three males exit and unload $5,000 worth of cigarettes from the victim's vehicle. This investigation is continuing,” according to the Monrovia Police Department in a written statement. No suspect description was publicly provided. The unidentified suspect approached two people eating outside at a restaurant near South Myrtle Avenue and West Olive Avenue around 10:17 p.m. one week ago. The man appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance when he threatened the diners by raising his fist and demanded money, according to the Monrovia Police Department. “The victims ran from the suspect and he chased after them. They made it to their vehicle and locked the doors as the suspect was punching the door window,” Monrovia Police said in a written statement. After the suspect fled the area north on Myrtle Avenue, responding officers searched, eventually found the suspect and took him into custody after the victims positively identified him. He was allegedly heavily intoxicated and was booked on suspicion of robbery, Monrovia Police said. The robbery unfolded around 8:53 p.m. at Trader Joe’s, 604 W. Huntington Dr. The suspect donned a mask and backpack when he entered the store. Once he took the cash, the suspect ran on foot and possible drove away in a black Dodge Charger, according to Sgt. William Burkhalter of the Monrovia Police Department.
No employees were harmed during the robbery, Burkhalter told SGV CityWatch. The suspect was described as a Black man in his 20s or 30s. He stood 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall and also wore a sweatshirt, Burkhalter told SGV CityWatch. The men robbed a Chevron gas station, 854 Huntington Dr. around 9:08 p.m. Two men armed with handguns entered and demanded cash while a third man acted as a lookout, according to the Monrovia Police Department. Employees relinquished the cash and all three men fled the area. It is unknown. A search of the area yielded no suspects. A description of the three men was not immediately available. The incident occurred July 2 around 11:23 p.m. in the 100 block of West Cypress when the victim and his wife returned home from a shopping trip. As the man was about to close the rear hatch to his vehicle, a suspect approached and attempted to take his wallet, according to the Monrovia Police Department. The suspect, who also demanded money, pushed the man down from behind. The man hit his head on the vehicle as he fell, Monrovia Police said. The man’s wife entered the garage after hearing a commotion and found her husband bleeding and a suspect already gone. The man was stabbed on the left side of his torso, Monrovia Police said. “They couldn't stop the bleeding, so they drove to a hospital and police were notified,” Monrovia Police said. The robbery occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Chase Bank, 102 W. Foothill Blvd. The suspect entered the bank and left a demand note, taking an unknown amount of cash, according to Lt. Tom Loy of the Monrovia Police Department. The suspect fled the bank and employees locked the doors after he left, Loy said. A suspect description was not available. It is unclear what vehicle the suspect fled in after leaving the bank. The FBI is handling the investigation. The incident unfolded at 12:30 p.m. in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. The suspect met the victim in front of the victim’s home. After receiving the phone, the suspect refused to pay for it and fled the victim on foot. A chase ensued, according to the Monrovia Police Department. The victim caught the suspect and a both fought each other until the victim got the phone back, Monrovia Police said. The suspect fled before officers arrived. The investigation is ongoing. The Walgreen’s at 903 E. Huntington Dr. was robbed by two men around 8:45 p.m. The men hopped over a counter. The suspects took around $900 in cash from the safe, Oxycontin and possibly the pain medication Norco, said Sgt. Chad Harvey of the Monrovia Police Department. The men covered their faces with the hoodies they wore, Harvey said. No injuries were reported, no weapons were seen and no threats were made, Harvey said. The suspects, both Black men in their 20s, fled northwest from the pharmacy on foot. One suspect wore a grey hoodie. The second wore a black hoodie. The victim was approached while he withdrew $300 in cash from the drive-thru at an undisclosed bank in the 600 block of West Huntington Drive just after 9 p.m. The suspect pointed a handgun at the driver, Monrovia Police said. The victim surrendered the $300 withdrawn, plus additional cash he had in his pocket, Monrovia Police said. The suspect fled the area and a search by arriving officers turned up empty.
