Montebello Firefighters are assisting county resources in extinguishing the flames, which are burning in heavy brush and vegetation, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. There was no word if evacuations are being conducted. No further information is available. The victim was shot once in the torso and once in the leg during the robbery at Cigarettes 4 Less Tobacco Shop, 2112 W. Whittier Blvd., around 2 p.m. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and later hospitalized, Montebello Police said. The victim’s current condition is unknown. Three Black men entered the store and attempted to rob their victim, who was identified by ABC7 news as the shop’s owner. The suspects possibly fled into a light-colored sedan and drove off west on Whittier Boulevard, Montebello Police said. The three suspects are possibly in their 20s and wore dark clothing. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Montebello Police Department at 323-887-1313.
