The driver reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes and smashed through a wall, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. Firefighters were called at 8:55 a.m. to the 700 block of West California Boulevard January 10. “Good samaritans jumped into the pool and rescued the occupants,” according to the Pasadena Fire Department in a written statement. It is not immediately clear if anyone was injured. The crash occurred in the intersection of South Lake Avenue and East Green Street around 1:51 a.m. June 11. The suspected drunk driver allegedly ran a red light while eastbound and collided with the chief’s SUV, according to the Pasadena Fire Department in a social media statement. No one was injured. “The suspect's vehicle collided into the Starbucks located at 80 S. Lake Avenue. The business was structurally safe and was not red tagged,” according to the Pasadena Fire Department. The collision occurred around 3:17 p.m. May 27 at the intersection of East Colorado Boulevard and North Oak Avenue, according to Lisa Derderian, public information officer with the City of Pasadena. “The other driver remained on scene and is cooperating. They are uninjured. The motor Officer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” Derderian told SGV CityWatch. Drivers are asked to avoid Colorado at Oak during the investigation. PASADENA – One person was killed in a crash on the 210 freeway early Monday. The westbound No. 4 and 5 lanes are expected to reopen by 8:30 a.m. after having originally closed by about 3 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. February 7. Few details are available, other than the collision was reported around the Lake Avenue off ramp on the westbound 210 freeway. The California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center still has no other details, including how many vehicles were involved, or if it was a pedestrian killed, according to CHP Officer Moises Marroquin. Temple City teens Andyn Bae, 17, and Eric Gullekson, 16, died at the scene. Nicholas Torres, a 17-year-old Monterey Park resident died after being hospitalized. The crash occurred around 8:25 p.m. Sunday on Michillinda Avenue south of Foothill Boulevard. Bae was driving the 2005 Honda south on Michillinda when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into a raised concrete curb, bounced and hit a chain link fence, crashed into a dirt/shrub embankment and rolled over, according to the California Highway Patrol. It is unclear as of Tuesday whether alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the crash. The collision occurred around 5:50 a.m. May 25 at E. Colorado Blvd. and N. Fair Oaks Ave., according to the Pasadena Fire Department. Pasadena Urban Search and Rescue responded to evaluate the integrity of the building, The Pasadena Fire Department said. Employees were inside the restaurant when the crash occurred, but no one was injured inside. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A portion of Orange Grove Boulevard will be closed for at least two hours Sunday morning after a crash killed one occupant and sent another to a hospital.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. at East Orange Grove Blvd. and North Craig Ave., November 15. A 23-year-old woman died at the scene. A 26-year-old man was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to Lt. Sean Dawkins of the Pasadena Police Department. The vehicle struck a light pole. No other vehicles were involved, Dawkins told SGV CityWatch. Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash, Dawkins told SGV CityWatch. Orange Grove from Oak Avenue to Craig Avenue will be closed in both directions.

A pursuit wound its way through Pasadena surface streets. Eventually, the driver was reckless enough to warrant officers to back away to lessen the danger on the roadway, but the driver continued in an erratic fashion, forcing officers to reengage the suspect.
At the end of the pursuit at Allen Avenue and East Corson Street, the driver crashed head-on with a Pasadena police vehicle. The suspect opened fire at the police vehicle from inside the sedan. A bullet cracked the officer’s windshield. The suspect exited his vehicle and fired at a second Pasadena officer who then shot back. Additional officers opened fire and took the suspect down. He died at the scene. During the gunfire, a Pasadena police officer was struck on the leg by a bullet fired by one of his colleagues. The officer was not critically injured. The suspect, 47-year-old San Diego man Lloyd Nelson, was identified as a former police officer in Los Angeles County, a former Pasadena resident and military veteran. Nelson’s motives that day remain unclear. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Three suspects allegedly involved in a shooting June 12 were arrested after one of the suspects crashed their ride, police said. All three suspects, described as Pasadena residents, were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon: 24-year-old Antonio Lizarraga, 30-year-old Michael Vasquez and a teen male. An argument between people occupying three vehicles led to a shooting near Morton Avenue and Mountain Street around 8 p.m. Friday. The victims were unharmed, drove from the shooting and fled on foot. They ran to officers searching for the source of gunfire, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
After receiving vehicle descriptions, officers located and stopped one suspect vehicle near Maple Street and Los Robles Avenue. Two suspects were taken into custody. The second suspect vehicle crashed into a tree near Forest Avenue and Claremont Street. After a lengthy search, the third suspect was arrested, Pasadena Police said. A Sig Alert has been issued, with a closure of the HOV, No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes beginning at Rosemead Boulevard for two hours. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 210 freeway west of Madre Street except the No. 5 lane remain closed after a big rig hit the center divider and knocked debris across the Gold Line tracks. The crash occurred around 5:22 a.m. December 7. The semi hauling the empty trailer may have hit another vehicle before hitting the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers on scene are requesting to have Metropolitan Transportation Authority to shut down the Gold Line tracks. The CHP will be diverting westbound traffic off the freeway at Sierra Madre Villa. According to officers at the scene, approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled onto the freeway. |
