First responders were sent to the intersection of Gary Avenue and Alvarado Street just after 7:30 p.m., January 12, to a three-vehicle collision. The injuries sustained by everyone ranged from moderate to severe, according to the Pomona Police Department. Everyone was treated at the scene and then transported to a nearby hospital. The HOV, No. 1 & 2 lanes have just reopened after being shut down for several hours during the investigation. First responders were called around 6:13 a.m. to two solo collisions. A white vehicle and dark sedan were involved. One of the vehicles blocked the No. 4 lane, while the other blocked the No. 1 & 2 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. By 6:36 a.m., the CHP requested all lanes be closed. By 9:02 a.m., the No. 3 & 4 lanes were opened and the coroner arrived on scene. It is not yet publicly clear what caused the fatal crash. The passenger, an adult male, died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured. POMONA - The suspect wanted in a horrific collision that killed two adults and injured another sought treatment at a Montclair hospital. The suspect’s name is not yet publicly available, pending medical clearance and booking, according to Aly Mejia, spokeswoman for the Pomona Police Department. Pomona police officers arrived to the Montclair hospital once the department was notified. The department’s traffic unit is investigating, Mejia told SGV CityWatch. A third woman, said to be in her 50s or 60s, was extricated and taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition. A 50-60-year-old woman who survived the crash was critically injured. First responders were sent to Garey Avenue between Harrison Avenue and East Bonita Avenue around 8:45 p.m. May 28, according to the Pomona Police Department. An SUV carrying the three victims overturned, trapping them all. A sedan involved in the crash ended up hitting a tree. A resident told Fox 11 that a man fled with a duffle bag or backpack from the crashed sedan and is believed to have caused the fatal crash. The resident followed the man to an apartment complex on Garey Avenue, but lost sight of him after the man exited the apartment complex. Investigators have yet to provide a suspect description and it is unclear if a description was provided by any witnesses. A patrol officer heard a crash nearby Holt Avenue and Clark Avenue around 11:49 p.m. April 26. The crash was located nearby on Holt Avenue east of Lorrane Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department. The woman died at the scene. The second driver was not injured. “Witness statements indicate that the vehicle related to the critically-injured driver … may have been racing another vehicle westbound on Holt just prior to the collision; this information has not been confirmed,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. POMONA - Possibly as many as 30 to 50 vehicles were disabled after a large pothole developed on the northbound 71 freeway near Holt Avenue Tuesday. A full freeway closure of the 71 at Holt Avenue is in place for an unknown duration. The California Highway Patrol is attempting to get an updated status from Caltrans who has been requested for emergency repair work, but materials needed for the emergency repair work are apparently not available until the day shift crew arrives, according to the California Highway Patrol.
