Jesus Ramirez-Ramirez allegedly abused the girls while he was a resident of South El Monte. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed three felony counts of lewd acts with a child against Ramirez April 28, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Ramirez reportedly had access to children and based on the allegations there may be additional victims, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies will announce the arrest and provide the name of the suspect and a press conference scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at the Sheriff’s Temple Station, 8838 E. Las Tunas Dr., in Temple City. The brutal assault and armed robbery of a rideshare driver in South El Monte May 10 was caught on the driver’s dash camera and shared far and wide. The assault and robbery occurred near Rosemead Boulevard and Rush Street around 9:20 p.m. The driver, an older Asian man, was left multiple facial trauma, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - Two 500 kilovolt transmission lines in the Walnut area malfunctioned, causing 159,239 customers to lose power in the San Gabriel Valley early Sunday, a Southern California Edison spokesman said.
Some customers in Walnut, Covina, West Covina, La Puente, Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, El Monte, the Whittier Narows area, Irwindale and Baldwin Park were affected by the outage that began at 6:47 a.m., according to Reggie Kumar, Southern California Edison spokesman. Customers in Carson were affected as well. Power was fully restored with the help of generators at 7:36 a.m., Kumar told SGV CityWatch. “Those transmission lines actually feed all the way to Bakersfield, so it was a very large loss,” Kumar told SGV CityWatch. The transmission lines are located in the City of Walnut. The cause is under investigation and repair work continues, Kumar told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor RIVERSIDE - A man was taken into custody in a residential area Sunday afternoon after leading the California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s deputies on a chase that lasted more than three hours. The suspect is accused of taking a large white box truck in South El Monte just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 31. The keys were reportedly left in the ignition, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. During the initial investigation, a deputy spotted the box truck in the area of Rush Street and Peck Road. The deputy followed the truck until backup arrived to perform a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and entered the eastbound I-10 freeway. The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit on the eastbound I-10 freeway near via Verde in the San Dimas area. After transitioning to the eastbound 210 freeway, the suspect took the southbound 15 into Temecula before turning back northbound.
After exiting onto surface streets in Perris, the driver found his way to a dirt race track near the Perris State Recreational Area, entered the race track and drove around before trying to exit back from where he entered. CHP officers boxed in the driver who then drove around the track, busted his way through a fence and was able to exit out onto Ramona Expressway. Even with heavily damaged tires, the driver kept moving along surface streets before entering the westbound 60 freeway. The driver was finally taken into custody after Good Samaritans attempted to get the driver out of the stopped box truck at Columbia Avenue and Primer Street in Riverside. Joseph Duran, 40, died from the combined effects methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
The body was found in the water near Peck Road and Durfee Avenue. Firefighters were called to the scene at 2:27 p.m., but left the location within 18 minutes. Joseph Duran, 40, was found in the water near Peck Road and Durfee Avenue sometime before 2:30 p.m. 10 days ago. Duran was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
A city of residence was unavailable for Duran. The cause of death has been deferred, pending additional investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Four days after he died, Sheriff’s homicide detectives announce the victim of a gas station shooting succumbed to his injures.
The victim, Jose Arroyo of Compton, was taken off life support and succumbed to his injuries late Friday. Arroyo and a companion were confronted at the Shell gas station, 1130 Peck Rd., June 4 around 1:46 a.m. Arroyo was shot in the back of the head after having what was described by investigators as “a brief conversation with a Hispanic male” while inside the convenience store. Moments later, Arroyo approached the car the Hispanic male as he pumped gas at his vehicle. A passenger in the suspect vehicle shot Arroyo. The gunman was then driven away by the Hispanic male in a grey hatchback, Homicide detectives said. The weapon has not been recovered. The shooting is likely gang-related.
