Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - An erratic man threatened employees of an auto shop and allegedly fought with a deputy while armed before being shot and subdued Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The ordeal escalated in the parking lot of the auto shop in the 2000 block of San Gabriel Boulevard in Rosemead around 4:50 p.m. October 19. The suspect arrived to the business and allegedly threatened employees and the owner if they did not fix his car, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies found the 25-year-old suspect seated in a vehicle with a female passenger. A handgun was seen in the suspect’s lap. Deputies ordered the man to move his hands away from his lap. “When the man refused to comply, deputies grabbed the man to remove him from the car. A physical struggle ensued between one of the deputies and the man,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A deputy fired one round at the suspect after the latter reached for his waistband, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A handgun was recovered at the scene. No one else was injured. |
