Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A young boy was flown by helicopter to an area trauma center after being hit by a driver Saturday afternoon. The boy, described as 11 years old, was standing at the southeast corner of Valley Center Avenue and Arrow Highway when a black Dodge Charger east on Arrow Highway allegedly ran a red light, clipped a vehicle, spun around and hit the child, according to witnesses at the scene. The second vehicle was attempting to turn south on Valley Center from westbound Arrow Highway. The boy was in stable condition while being treated by firefighters, but an updated condition was not available.
The boy was preparing to cross Arrow Highway with his mother, both had bicycles with them when the crash occurred, according to witnesses at the scene. The driver of the Charger was also transported to an area hospital. The boy’s and mother’s property remained at the scene Saturday afternoon, including their bicycles and the boy’s shoes. It is unclear if any arrests were made. The California Highway Patrol is handling the crash. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - Armed robbers took about $200 in cash after robbing a Subway restaurant November 8. The robbery occurred around 9 p.m. at Subway, 728 E. Foothill Blvd. Both men were armed with handguns, according to deputies with the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. It was unclear if the weapons were real.
Both men fled westbound on Foothill Boulevard towards San Dimas Canyon Road.

Detectives contacted and detained the juvenile around 6:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “The investigation is continuing and the LASD does not have evidence of any credible threat to the campus or students at this time. We will continue our diligence in the protection of our community and schools. Bonita Unified School District,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement. Deputies began investigating the threat after it was reported around 7 p.m. November 7, according to Lt. Ashrafmia of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. A copy of the message shared with SGV CityWatch was sent via text message around 4:37 p.m. An unknown subject sent an undisclosed initial text to which someone responded “do I know you?” The unknown subject responded “no, but ima shoot up san dimas high tomorrow.” It is unclear if the message was shared over social media platforms. The lieutenant refused to divulge if the threat was made over other platforms, citing the ongoing investigation. SAN DIMAS - Deputies were on-hand Saturday to thank a resident for reacting quickly to save a woman whose crashed car burst into flames.
Sebastian Picardi, a San Dimas man, received a commendation from San Dimas Sheriff’s Station Captain Andy Berg awarded Picardi for his actions November 1. Picardi was walking his dog on San Dimas Canyon Road around 5:45 p.m. when a driver traveling at high speed crashed near Caballo Ranch Road. The crash was so violent in ripped the driver side door off. Picardi secured his dog and ran towards the car while a resident who came out to see the crash called 9-1-1. Picardi pulled the unconscious woman from the vehicle as flames crept from under the hood and into the dashboard. San Dimas Station deputies arrived within one minute as the car became engulfed. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A driver got away with only a complaint of pain after speed likely caused a violent crash on San Dimas Canyon Road Thursday afternoon.
The driver was driving south on San Dimas Canyon Road around 5:45 p.m. when she crossed over into the opposing lane and struck a metal guard rail near Caballo Ranch Road. The crash ripped the driver side door off and the vehicle came to rest on top of the rail, according to Lt. Mark Skaggs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The vehicle then ignited, Skaggs said. “A witness was actually able to run over and pull the driver from the vehicle before she suffered any really serious injuries,” Skaggs said. The driver, who complained of pain to a leg and her abdomen was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. About 20 feet of metal guard rail was destroyed. The vehicle was destroyed by fire, Skaggs said. Skaggs did not know if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving was a factor in the crash. |
