Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN GABRIEL - Police arrested a man Saturday, somehow identifying him as an armed, masked bank robber who stole thousands in cash from a Citibank Friday.
Hubert Sing Chung, 51, was tracked to his home in the City of Industry June 30 and arrested him around 9:40 a.m. A warrant search of his home yielded 21 handguns, 9 rifles, ammunition, gun magazines, the clothing worn during the Friday robbery and the stolen cash from the bank, San Gabriel Police said. Chung is accused of robbing Citibank, 532 W. Valley Blvd. around 2:40 p.m. Police accuse Chung of donning a mask, entering the bank and pointing the gun at the teller and customers. Chung fled with several thousand dollars, San Gabriel Police said. Chung in being held in the Alhambra Police jail in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Alhambra Superior Court Tuesday, July 3. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN GABRIEL - Three on and off ramps on the I-10 freeway are scheduled to be closed through August as part of a bridge deck refurbishment project by Caltrans.
The first 55-hour closure is in progress and affects the Del Mar Avenue on and off ramps, as well as the HOV lanes and all lanes of city streets below the bridge, San Gabriel officials said. All closures are scheduled to be lifted by 5 a.m. July 2. The second Del mar closure is expected to begin the night of Friday, August 3 and end by 5 a.m. Monday, August 6. Also affected will be the on and off ramps, HOV lane and city streets below the New Avenue and San Gabriel Boulevard bridges, San Gabriel officials said. The first New Avenue closure is scheduled to start the night of July 6 and reopen July 9 by 5 a.m. The second closure will begin the night of July 27 and reopen July 30 by 5 a.m. The first San Gabriel Boulevard closure will begin the night of July 13 and reopen by July 16 at 5 a.m. The second closure will begin the night of July 20and reopen by July 23 at 5 a.m. |
