Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - A containment has been set up after a deputy-involved shooting took place near Durfee Avenue and the 60 freeway just before 9 a.m.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau could only confirm a shooting took place and that Homicide detectives are en route to handle the investigation. Deputies from surrounding stations are assisting with containment of the scene, allowing Temple Station deputies to patrol their area. One deputy said that he was positioned next to a “body” and that a barrier was being requested, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:56 a.m., but cleared about 10 minutes later, according to Dispatcher Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Peters deferred further questions about a shooting to Sheriff’s officials. No further information is available. |
