The victim’s body was found on the eastbound side of the 60 freeway just after 9:30 p.m. July 26, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers and Sheriff’s deputies originally responded to the location for a reported person preparing to jump. The CHP shut down all eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway at Peck Road at 9:35 p.m. Two minutes later, traffic lanes were open after the victim was found dead, according to the CHP. Los Angeles County firefighters worked to recover the body from the overpass. No identity was available yet for the victim. Flames were visible on the eastbound side of the 60 freeway at Peck Road just before 4 a.m. April 15, According to the California Highway Patrol. Los Angeles County fire fighters requested The No. 4 lane and right shoulder be blocked by the CHP while they extinguish the flames. A 45-minute Sig Alert was issued for the No. 5 lane at 4:23 a.m., the CHP said. The crash occurred at 4:28 a.m. on the eastbound 60 freeway at Peck Road. It is unclear how many vehicles were involved, according to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol. The No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes of the eastbound 60 will remain closed until further notice, Kravig said. The big rig was hauling cantaloupe. The driver of the semi was stopped at the metered light on the southbound Rosemead Boulevard on ramp to the eastbound 60 freeway around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Two men in a vehicle stopped ahead of them exited and approached the driver, according to Gina Jojola, public information officer for the East Los Angeles CHP Office. At least one of the suspects was armed, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The men failed to take anything and fled the scene, Jojola said. Suspect descriptions were not readily available. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating the attempted robbery.
