Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - Homicide investigators confirmed a suspect was shot and killed during a deputy-involved shooting Sunday.
The shooting took place in the 900 block of Durfee Avenue. The suspect died at the scene, according to Lt. John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. It is unclear why deputies initially responded to the area, but the CHP was initially called just minutes after the shooting to close off the Durfee Avenue off ramp at the 60 freeway due to a felony stop of a burglary suspect who was hit by gunfire, according to California Highway Patrol radio traffic. No further information is available. |
