The woman was found shot in the 15500 block of Fellowship Street in unincorporated Valinda July 1. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives state the incident occurred around 6:07 a.m., but Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch reports show firefighters were called at 6:57 a.m. The woman is reportedly the victim of a drive-by shooting, having been shot while outside a residence. The incident is likely gang related, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The woman was taken to a hospital before deputies arrived to the scene. VALINDA - More than 48 hours after allegedly committing assault with a deadly weapon and allegedly firing upon deputies and passersby, the suspect barricaded inside of a home has been found dead, according to Los Angeles County Board Supervisor Hilda Solis.
Solis made the statement just before 5 p.m. on Twitter. “I have been informed that the suspect involved in the Valinda barricade situation has committed suicide,” Solis said adding “My office is reuniting families and coordinating so that they can get back to their homes safely.” Aerial footage from above the neighborhood showed that tactical vehicles from the Los Angeles Police Department have been working to demolish part of the house. There was much extensive damage to the front of the single-story home, including at least three gaping holes in the roof. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has yet to issue an official statement regarding the status of the suspect.

First responders were dispatched to the scene in the 16200 block of Amar Road in the unincorporated community of Valinda around 7:46 p.m. Tuesday, February 14. The extent of injuries is unclear, but the victim is conscious and apparently unwilling to provide information to investigators. Investigators are trying to determine how many suspects were involved. The gunshot victim, described as a man in his early 20s, was being sent to a nearby trauma center from Queen of the Valley Hospital, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The gunshot victim was being transferred to the trauma center when deputies became aware of the shooting just before 6 p.m. “People picked him up with his family and drove him to the hospital. He was already being put in the ambulance when we got the call,” Long told SGV CityWatch. Deputies are also working a potentially-related incident in the area of Valinda Avenue and Wing Lane where gunfire was reported March 16. Bullets were reportedly fired into the air, Long told SGV CityWatch. No other information is available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - Deputies have detained a man after arriving en mass to a home Friday morning after a call of an armed suspect in a Valinda neighborhood.
Deputies took the suspect into custody at a home in the area of Dubesor Street and Mullender Avenue just after 10 a.m. A caller reported to deputies that the suspect was armed with a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect spent much time in the rear yard of a home on Dubesor Street and spoke to residents inside, the residents were later determined to be his sisters and mother, according to Industry Station radio traffic. A police helicopter was overhead and the suspect was given verbal commands over a loudspeaker to surrender. Deputies had much trouble getting the suspect to comply after he walked out to the street and got down on his knees under his own volition. Initially, deputies were told that gunfire was heard, but it is unclear if any shots were fired. Deputies are searching the home on Dubesor Street where the suspect apparently lives to find the handgun and are searching the neighborhood for any other evidence.

VALINDA - One person suffered unknown injuries after a fire destroyed a garage Friday morning.
The fire was reported at 8:55 a.m. at 16119 Francisquito Avenue. Firefighters arrived six minutes later to battle the flames, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The one-acre property houses a horse stable, but no animals were injured. It is unclear if the person injured in the fire is a civilian, deputy or firefighter. The extent of injuries is unknown. The patient was transported just before 10 a.m. Several fire investigators have been called to determine the fire’s source.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - A gunshot victim was dropped off at a nearby hospital in unknown condition Tuesday night. The victim was shot outside a home in the 1300 block of Glenshaw Drive around 7:30 p.m. Three men occupied a white, newer-model four-door Acura involved in the shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
Deputies are focusing their investigation at one house where spent shell casings and a blood trail were found.

The shooting took place in the 16400 block of Doublegrove Street around 9:20 p.m. Three armed men in dark clothing used handguns to shoot at some unknown victim or home, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station crime broadcast. Deputies are searching the neighborhood, home, by home, finding bullet holes in walls and windows. The suspects entered two dark sedans and fled the area east on Doublegrove Street. |
