ALHAMBRA - The suspect accused of stealing an idling car with a baby on board I was arrested Wednesday after a nosy resident reported a suspicious man in the neighborhood.

Los Angeles man Omar Rubio, 33, allegedly attempted to ditch police on foot when they tried to stop him and question why he was out and about so late around midnight June 3. A resident reported a loud noise and saw a suspicious man in the 700 block of South Almansor Avenue, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Rubio reportedly fled and sought refuge in an apartment complex, but officers soon located him hiding in front of a parked vehicle in a carport.

Investigators learned of the carjacking and kidnapping suspect’s identity and obtained an arrest warrant, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Rubio allegedly stole a black 2015 Honda Civic near Hampden Terrace and Sherwood Court May 22. A 3-month-old baby, Cayden Ramey, sat restrained in a car seat. The car apparently left idling while the mother was inside her home, according to authorities.

South Pasadena Police learned the Honda Civic was in their city. A search along Brent Avenue revealed an abandoned car left by the suspect. The baby found inside unharmed.

Rubio was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, stolen vehicle, and child stealing, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Rubio is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Friday, June 5.

ALHAMBRA - An attempted murder suspect was arrested in Los Angeles March 25, accused of stabbing his girlfriend and taking refuge in an apartment unit.

Angel Gandara fled after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend Wednesday afternoon. Detectives located Gandara in a Los Angeles apartment complex. After refusing to surrender for several hours, Alhambra Police SWAT officers took him into custody, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Officers were first called around 3 p.m. to the 500 block of South Chapel Avenue. Officers found a woman with at least one stab wound. She was hospitalized and last listed in stable condition, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

ALHAMBRA - A man was caught on surveillance camera tagging a Redbox machine recently.

The vandalism occurred at a 7-Eleven, 601 S. Fremont Ave. After tagging the Redbox machine, the suspect also allegedly took a whiz there as well, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The suspect is a Latino man approximately in his mid-40s, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, appears to weigh 165 pounds and wore a red baseball cap, dark sweater and gray sweatpants.

ALHAMBRA - Police announced the arrest of a suspect who is accused of stabbing someone January 6.

The suspect was identified within hours of the stabbing, but wasn’t found until January 28 in the City of Glendale, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

With the assistance of Glendale Police, Eriberto Paiz, 56, from Los Angeles, was taken into custody.

A stabbing occurred near Atlantic Boulevard and Spruce Street January 6. The suspect fled prior to officers' arrival. A nearby school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition after the stabbing, but information on their current condition is not immediately known.

Paiz is being held in lieu of more than $1.4 million bail an initial court appearance was made January 30, with another appearance scheduled for February 2.

ALHAMBRA - A stabbing suspect remains at-large after attacking a man Tuesday.

The attack occurred near Atlantic Boulevard and Spruce Street around 2 p.m. January 7. A nearby school was temporarily locked down during the initial search, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

No students, teachers, or parents were involved in the attack.

The victim was hospitalized and was last described as being in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a Latino man dressed in all black.

ALHAMBRA - A pursuit ended in a major crash that killed one person being pursued in an SUV and a police officer Thursday.

It is not immediately clear why police were pursuing an SUV, but the collision at West Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive caused major damage to the SUV and an Alhambra Police patrol SUV.

The crash occurred around 3:07 a.m. November 20.

Officer Alec Saunders, 28, was just eight months in to his service with the Alhambra Police Department.

Saunders was reportedly found not breathing when fellow officers reached him in the damaged police SUV.

There were three people in the suspect SUV. One occupant was ejected and died at the scene. One other suspect was seriously injured, while a third suspect was not seriously injured.

ALHAMBRA - A Rosemead man was arrested, accused of cutting up two roommates during fisticuffs at dinner time.

One victim was stabbed in a bicep, the other was stabbed in one of his forearms. The fisticuffs unfolded in the kitchen and one of the victims attempted to intervene, leading to a double stabbing, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The incident occurred July 11 near East El Molino Street and North Grand Avenue.

After the attack, the suspect fled in an unknown direction, but Alhambra Police detectives tracked down 41-year-old Lihua Peng after locating his car in El Monte. He was arrested during a traffic stop.

Peng was officially charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and a special allegation of causing great bodily injury, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records.

Peng has since appeared twice in court and pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled back August 7.

ALHAMBRA - Investigators arrested two suspects during a robbery and stolen vehicle investigation.

During a search of a residential property, investigators discovered two more stolen vehicles unrelated to the initial crimes, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The suspects were arrested July 10 and the vehicles were recovered in Rosemead.

The victim of the vehicle theft in Alhambra was walking back to his car after a gym sesh near South 3rd Street and West Main Street when unknown suspects approached. A weapon was pointed at him. his personal belongings were taken and his vehicle driven in an unknown direction, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Jesus Carreon, 20, and Clara Garcia, 56, both Rosemead residents.

Carreon is being held in lieu of $175,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. He is scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court August 11.

Garcia was issued a citation and released. She is scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court September 9, according to Los Angeles County booking records.

ALHAMBRA - A teller’s intuition led to the arrest of a man accused of stealing $25,000 from his victim’s bank account.

Curtis Graham, a 51-year-old New Jersey man, allegedly used fraudulent identification and ATM card to withdraw the cash from a Bank of America, 444 E. Valley Blvd. Graham then allegedly attempted to withdraw even more money from a savings account June 28, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

“The teller grew suspicious of the unusually large withdrawal and asked some questions to verify the account. The suspect became nervous and left in a panic,” according to the Alhambra Police Department in a written statement.

Things allegedly got physical between the teller and Graham when the suspect was followed outside the bank. Officers arrived and took Graham into custody.

Graham was officially charged with second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, theft from an elder/dependent adult, identity theft, false personation and possessing a false or altered driver license.

Graham pleaded not guilty July 7.

He is being held in the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic and is scheduled to return to Alhambra Superior Court July 29.

ALHAMBRA - Two men from Los Angeles were caught in a stolen vehicle through the help of an Apple AirTag.

Officers tracked the AirTag signal to an alley in Los Angeles June 19 and two suspects were found chillin’ inside, allegedly found with keys used to start the car, methamphetamine, non-prescribed Adderall, pepper spray and a meth pipe, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The owner of a black sedan parked her vehicle and locked it, but discovered it was stolen sometime later that same day, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Arrested were Mario Alfredo Huitron and Honorio De La Torre.

Huitron, 31, was charged June 23 with receiving a stolen vehicle and additionally charged for having a prior auto theft conviction. He pleaded not guilty, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records.

De La Torre, 36, was issued a citation and released, according to Los Angeles County booking records.

Huitron is scheduled for an early disposition hearing July 3.
