Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Several customers are thinking “oh thank heaven” after narrowly avoiding major injuries when a car made a dramatic entrance into a 7-Eleven June 28. An alleged drunk driver crashed a white Prius through the front entrance of the 7-Eleven, 1003 S. Baldwin Ave., around 10:30 p.m. Friday and through the convenience store. Four customers inside the store were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Multiple bags of chips and some cases of Pacifico did not survive. The uninjured driver, a 53-year-old Arcadia resident, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. His name was not publicly released. Written by AARON CASTREJON
CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Four people were arrested June 9, after allegedly attempting to establish residency at someone else’s home June 9. The four suspects were confronted by the homeowner who called police to report a possible burglary in progress in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue. During a physical altercation, the homeowner fired a handgun into the air in fear of his life. One suspect was arrested outside the home, the others fled in a vehicle, but were found and arrested, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers were called to the home around 11:45 p.m. The homeowner called police and said he could see people inside of the home. He confronted them as they exited, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Those involved in the physical fight were treated for minor injuries, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the suspects had taken over the residence, and were attempting to establish residency. All four suspects were arrested and charged with residential burglary,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Arrested were Uried Benitez, a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles; Stephanie Burwell, a 35-year-old woman from Baldwin Park; Phyllis Cheong, a 29-year-old woman from Los Angeles and Marisa Williams, a 31-year-old woman from Long Beach.
