CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Investigators are searching for equipment stolen from a park storage area overnight and the suspects responsible for the grand theft. Two softball pitching machines were taken from Lojewski Field at Eisenhower Park, 601 N. 2nd Ave. The machines were last seen around 10 p.m. October 27, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The machines were secured inside the locked batting cages. On October 28, at about 7:30 p.m., someone discovered that the batting cage door was removed from the hinges and the two pitching machines were missing, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The pitching machines are valued at $2,000 each and belonged to a local community member. The machines were used at the park for softball activities. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - An Arcadia-based tutor is accused of a number of sex crimes against one of his underage pupils and investigators believe there may be more victims. Tsungyu Chien, 57, was arrested by investigators after discovering he was sitting outside the home of a girl who accused him of sexually assaulting her October 21. He was booked on suspicion of sexual battery, sexual penetration with a foreign object and child annoyance, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers were notified of the alleged assaults October 20. “The tutor drove the victim to his residence in the City of Arcadia. While there, the suspect convinced the victim to allow him to give her a massage. During the massage, the suspect inappropriately touched the victim. The victim became uncomfortable and asked the suspect to take her home,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. It was during a follow up investigation that detectives reviewed text messages allegedly sent by Chien and discovered he was parked outside the girl’s home, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Chien posted $100,000 bond and was released October 22, according to Los Angeles County booking records. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Two occupants were tied up by four suspects who fled with jewelry and the victims’ vehicle during a home invasion robbery October 22. The four suspects forced their way in through the front door in the 1100 block of West Foothill Boulevard just before 1 p.m., according to the Arcadia Police Department. One suspect was armed with a gun, the other with a knife. “After the suspects fled, both victims were able to free themselves, and one left the home to seek help from a nearby bystander,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned in the 1400 block of West Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles. Three suspects were described as three Latino males and one Asian male. All suspects wore black clothing, while one suspect additionally wore a reflective safety vest.
