Arcadia Detectives Seek Additional Victims of Tutor Accused of Sexual Battery

ARCADIA - An Arcadia-based tutor is accused of a number of sex crimes against one of his underage pupils and investigators believe there may be more victims.

Tsungyu Chien, 57, was arrested by investigators after discovering he was sitting outside the home of a girl who accused him of sexually assaulting her October 21. He was booked on suspicion of sexual battery, sexual penetration with a foreign object and child annoyance, according to the Arcadia Police Department.

Officers were notified of the alleged assaults October 20.

“The tutor drove the victim to his residence in the City of Arcadia. While there, the suspect convinced the victim to allow him to give her a massage. During the massage, the suspect inappropriately touched the victim. The victim became uncomfortable and asked the suspect to take her home,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement.

It was during a follow up investigation that detectives reviewed text messages allegedly sent by Chien and discovered he was parked outside the girl’s home, according to the Arcadia Police Department.

Chien posted $100,000 bond and was released October 22, according to Los Angeles County booking records.
