AVOCADO HEIGHTS - A big rig hauling 30,000 pounds of perishables overturned and crashed on the trans road from the eastbound 60 freeway to the 605 freeway Sunday morning.

The California Highway Patrol has initiated a hard closure of the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the trans road to the northbound 605 freeway. The big rig and trailer overturned just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, November 12.

A Sig Alert has been issued for an unknown duration.

There was a report that the big rig caught fire. The trailer wrapped itself around a freeway sign and damaged about 100 feet of K-rails, creating an immediate hazard, according to CHP traffic logs.

The driver was briefly trapped, but was able to free himself during a rescue effort. It is unclear if the driver was injured.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - Detectives have just released the identity of a man stabbed to death at a nightclub June 14 and are asking for the public to help with the investigation.

Jie Deng was one of two men stabbed at a nightclub just before 1 a.m. at 131 S. 6th Ave. June 14.

Deng and the other victim were taken to a hospital where Deng was pronounced dead.

The condition of the second victim is not publicly known.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - Two men were found stabbed early Wednesday morning, investigators said.

Both men were taken to a hospital where one was pronounced dead. The second man’s condition has not yet been disclosed by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives.

Sheriff’s Industry Station deputies were sent to the 100 block of South 6th Avenue just before 1 a.m. June 14.

The stabbing occurred in an industrial area just south of Valley Boulevard. Circumstances behind the stabbing, have not yet been revealed.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS – A suspect in the bed of a white truck reportedly opened fired on a man who had just finished washing his vehicle, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The shooting was reported to deputies in the 500 block of South Basetdale Avenue at 9:13 p.m. October 28. The white truck containing possibly three people was driven south on Basetdale Avenue when it approached the man, then gunfire erupted, according to Lt. Kearney of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.

“There was a male in the bed of the truck and he opened fire, striking the victim twice. He was transported to LA County/USC Medical Center and is listed in stable condition,” Kearney told SGV CityWatch.

The white truck was last seen fleeing southbound on Basetdale Avenue.

Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related, Kearney told SGV CityWatch.

The investigation is now being handled by detectives from the department’s Operation Safe Streets, Kearney told SGV CityWatch.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - A man was shot three times and walked several blocks to get help at a gas station Wednesday night, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The victim wound up at the Arco gas station, 460 Workman Mill Rd. Deputies followed a trail of blood to the crime scene at Basetdale Avenue and Don Julian Road, according to Lt. Julie Geary of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.

Firefighters responded to a call from deputies around 7:15 p.m.

A gas station employee called 911, Geary told SGV CityWatch.

The victim was transported to an area trauma center, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“The victim was shot three times and is in stable condition. He is expected to live,” Geary told SGV CityWatch.

The victim is being uncooperative, Geary told SGV CityWatch.

No suspect or vehicle description is available.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS – A man said to be out on a jog collapsed and was pronounced dead at Workman Mill Road and Don Julian Road early Thursday.
 
Firefighters were called to the scene at 7:53 a.m. January 23 to a cardiac arrest victim near a grocery outlet, according to a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
 
Deputies also responded to a report of a man down. The publicly-unidentified was possibly out for a jog when he collapsed and died, according to Sgt. Andre  Kneubuhler of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
 
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - A vehicle possibly rolled over and crashed at the 605 and 60 freeways Monday night, killing one person.

The transition road from the eastbound 60 freeway to the north and south 605 freeways will be closed until at least 9:30 p.m. A caller reported witnessing the vehicle roll over, according to Officer Stephan Brandt of the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was first reported at 6:47 p.m.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS – The driver found in a submerged vehicle that plunged off the 605 freeway early Tuesday has yet to be identified.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - One person was transported by a helicopter to an area trauma center Monday after a semi rolled down an embankment and crashed.

The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the northbound 605 freeway trans road to the eastbound 60 freeway August 26. The semi hauling a trailer suffered major front end damage, an occupant became trapped, according to the California Highway Patrol.

AVOCADO HEIGHTS - A body was discovered on the dirt shoulder of a transition road at the eastbound 60 and 605 freeways Monday morning, homicide investigators said.

A passerby called the California Highway Patrol around 9 a.m. June 10 to report seeing what was believed to be a body. Detectives have not yet revealed the age, gender or race of the victim, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
