CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A shocking crime unfolded before sunrise November 17 after a shooting claimed two adult family members and wounded a child. The shootings are said to have been perpetrated by Qihao Jin, 35, who is estranged from his wife and targeted her family in the 12700 block of Royston Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. First responders were called to a report of a suspicious person and possible death at the home. Officers were met by three family members, two men and a boy, who said a shooting took place with victims down. Two adults and a 10-year-old girl were found wounded. Despite being given aid, the adults died. The girl survived and remains hospitalized, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The deceased victims are 61-year-old female Yulan Wang, and her husband, 61-year-old male, Qiufu Jiang. Jin’s wife was not at the home where the shooting occurred. Investigators identified Qihao Jin as a suspect and identified a vehicle late Monday night used to flee the shooting scene. An alert to local agencies was distributed. Jin was located in his vehicle in the 100 block of Vermont Street in the city of Anaheim, where Anaheim officers found Jin dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - Investigators are piecing together the details of a shooting in a Baldwin Park neighborhood Monday. First responders were sent to the 12700 block of Royston Street around 5 a.m. November 17. Firefighters arrived at 5:22 a.m. and transported one patient to a hospital at 5:57 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - A former police officer has been officially charged with 29 felony counts of grand theft related to the shocking theft of more than $104,000 from Baldwin Park Police Association Union funds. Andres Villalobos, 35, is accused of transferring the cash from from the Association’s account into his personal account, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He was taken into custody November 6. After being elected treasurer in 2021, Villalobos is accused of making the transfers over an 18-month period from July 2022 to August 2023. He has since been terminated. When he was arrested, Villalobos was discovered to have in his possession two law enforcement flash-bang grenades. He was additionally charged with two felony counts of possession of a destructive device or explosive and one felony count of commercial burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He faces nearly 27 years in state prison if convicted as charged. Villalobos was arraigned November 10. He pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for Nov. 24 in Department 132 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
