CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - Nearly a year later, investigators released a critical incident briefing on the shooting that killed a Baldwin Park Police officer and a civilian. The briefing includes body-worn camera recordings from responding officers of the May 31, 2025 incident in the 4200 block of Filhurst Avenue. Baldwin Park Police Officer Samuel Riveros, 35, a nine-year veteran of the department, was killed. Darius Wong, 43, was the civilian who was shot an killed. Baldwin Park Police officer Anthony Pimentel was struck in the face by flying bits of glass after the suspect fired upon his responding patrol vehicle and has since recovered.

The suspect, 22-year-old Eduardo Roberto Medina Berumen, was last in Pomona Superior Court April 16 for a preliminary hearing and is scheduled for further proceedings April 30.
Medina was officially charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted premeditated murder and possession of an assault weapon. He was additionally charged with special allegations of murder for financial gain, murder of a police engaged in duties, personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury and the special allegation of multiple murders, according to Los Angeles County booking records.. ********** Copyright 2026.
