Man Severely Injures Hands While Lighting Illegal Fireworks in Bassett

BASSETT - A man is recovering from severe injuries sustained after illegal fireworks exploded and damaged his hands Monday.

The man was injured in the 13600 block of Homeward Street around 9:20 a.m. The 24-year-old man sustained severe injuries to both hands and needed to be taken by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
