Four suspects in dark hooded sweatshirts took an undisclosed amount of merchandise from Daniel’s Jewelers, 1600 S. Azusa Ave., June 11. Deputies were called to the store at 4:14 p.m., according to Sgt. Magdaleno of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. A blunt instrument was used to shatter glass display cases, Magdaleno told SGV CityWatch. Employees are performing an inventory on what was stolen, Magdaleno told SGV CityWatch. First responders were called to the 300 block of South Newquist Place south of Proctor Avenue around 11:43 p.m. May 11. The argument escalated, causing one man to cut the victim’s arm, according to Lt. Bernal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The injury is not considered serious, Bernal told SGV CityWatch. Bernal did not know what the argument was about. A suspect has not been arrested. A description was not readily available. The child was identified as 8-year-old Phillip Rosas, a Covina resident, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. An exam is scheduled to determine exact cause of death. The alleged drunk driver, described as a 30-year-old man, remains hospitalized with a leg injury, according to Sgt. Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. First responders were called to the scene just after 1 a.m. Sunday. The impact forced one of the vehicles up onto a sidewalk. A hydrant was sheared off in the crash. Rosas was accompanied by three others, including a 12-year-old, inside the vehicle struck by the alleged drunk driver. The suspected drunk driver was alone in the vehicle he drove. The charges he would be booked on once medically cleared are still under investigation, Hernandez told SGV CityWatch. The alleged drunk driver, a 30-year-old man, was hospitalized in stable condition. The two children were listed in critical condition, according to Sgt. Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The crash was dispatched just after 1 a.m. May 8 at Valley Boulevard and North Grand Avenue. The impact forced one or both vehicles up onto a sidewalk outside of a nearby Applebee’s. The two others accompanying the children were last described as being in stable condition, Hernandez told SGV CityWatch. The collision also sheared a fire hydrant. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - Three suspects accused of burglarizing railroad cars were chased along freeways and surface streets in the City of Industry area around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
The suspects were removing televisions packed inside a rail car in the 18000 block of Railroad Street March 15. A responding Sheriff’s Department helicopter scared the men off, according to Sgt. Andre Kneubuhler of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspects fled in a truck and were chased north on the 605 freeway from the 60 freeway. The suspects exited the 605 onto Valley Boulevard where they tried to escape on foot, according to Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. The suspects were unable to flee with the televisions once they began escaping the rail car, Kneubuhler told SGV CityWatch. The suspects’ truck was abandoned behind Satin Topless, 13079 Valley Blvd. All three suspects were caught near where the truck was abandoned. Kneubuhler was hesitant to identify the suspects, only describing them as men between 30 and 37 years old. All three men will be facing burglary and receiving stolen property charges. One suspect will additionally be charged with felony evading, Kneubuhler told SGV CityWatch. Deputies and Los Angeles County Firefighters were called to the 1600 block of South Azusa Avenue around 9:40 p.m. March 13. The victim, only described as a female adult, was hospitalized where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Los Angeles County fire fighters were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. They were on scene six minutes later and transported the victim at 9:54 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County fire department. “After a preliminary investigation was conducted, it was determined the pedestrian death was not a homicide. The additional investigation will be conducted by LASD Traffic Services Detail,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau in a written statement. The owner of a warehouse at 125 Vineland Avenue arrived and found an open door. After deputies were called and a search began, a woman was found hiding outside who they believe was involved, according to Lt. David Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The woman was detained. During an interior search of the warehouse, a deputy saw one person fleeing and believed one other person was inside as well. Backup arrived to help contain the warehouse for a K9 search, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The two outstanding suspects were found by the K9 and surrendered, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. The three suspects are facing commercial burglary charges, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. Deputies are sorting through a confusing patchwork of stories given by the male who suffered the gunshot and a mysterious female caller who allegedly was also injured by gunfire, according to Lt. David Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Los Angeles County Firefighters were dispatched to South Brea Canyon Road and Spanish Lane just before 6 a.m. February 14. Deputies had to repeatedly ask both the mysterious female caller and the wounded male how the injuries came to be. The female caller stopped answering questions and could not be located, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. The wounded male said he was shot by a suspect carrying a shotgun at Brea Canyon Road and Valley Boulevard. A description was given, but deputies are questioning the validity of the description as well as the location given. The wounded male was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. A nearby Ring camera reportedly recorded what sounded like gunfire in the area and are trying to pinpoint the location, Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. Deputies found the victim, only described as a 45-year-old Hispanic man, laying on the sidewalk and suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso in the 100 block of North Azusa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were called at 5 p.m. November 24. They were originally responding to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and a man armed with a handgun. During the investigation, a bullet was located near Azusa Avenue and Glenloch Avenue north of where the shooting took place. A discarded hooded sweatshirt was also located, but it is unclear if it is tied to the shooting. A suspect remains at-large. A helicopter is first searching by air to pick up any possible heat source left by the gunman who was apparently last seen fleeing through the wooded area west of Azusa Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. First responders arrived to Azusa Avenue and Gemini Street around 5:01 p.m. A suspect description is not publicly known, nor is the motive. The victim’s condition is not immediately known. |
