Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor INDUSTRY - A depressed, suicidal man was detained after being found laying across Grand Avenue near Garcia Lane Sunday morning. A man in his mid-30s called 9-1-1 and said he wanted to hurt himself by jumping off a tall structure August 25, according to Sgt. Patrick Coussa of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. The incident unfolded just before 11 a.m. Deputies attempted to keep the man on the phone to stall him in an attempt to locate him, but he ended the call. Deputies were able to obtain a general location of his cell phone signal, Coussa said.
Deputies began searching a general area and had the California Highway Patrol search the nearby 60 freeway Grand Avenue overpass. The man was found walking along Grand Avenue. He then walked into traffic and laid down on the asphalt, Coussa said. Deputies arrived and detained the man who eventually admitted himself for a mental evaluation, Coussa said. |
