Claremont Police Rescue Man After Standoff in Hotel Pool

CLAREMONT - A man possibly suffering mental problems was removed by force from a pool after keeping officers at bay Thursday.

The unidentified man was causing a disturbance at Knights Inn Claremont, 721 S. Indian Hill Blvd., April 16 at 10:26 a.m. He allegedly threatened physical harm to hotel staff and knocked on guest room doors, according to the Claremont Police Department.

“Upon seeing the officers, the subject jumped in the pool and refused to come out,” Claremont Police said in a written statement.

After an hour of negotiations, a Claremont officer jumped into the pool and forcefully removed him.

The man was given an evaluation. No officers were injured.
