Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A husband and wife were arrested and found with hundreds of pieces of stolen mail and more, Claremont Police said.
The suspects were spotted by a Claremont Police officer after they drove away from the blue collection mailboxes at the Claremont Post Office, 140 N. Harvard Ave. at 3 a.m. December 24. The suspects were stopped after they drove from the post office and during a consent search of their vehicle, officers additionally found checks, a long thin strip of carpet with an adhesive backing and sticky rat/mouse traps were found, Claremont Police said. Arrested were Lennox resident Amida Urrutia, 44, and Erik Gomez, 34, from Los Angeles were arrested and booked on suspicion of identity theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and burglary tools, Claremont Police said. “If you placed your mail in the blue mailboxes in the east alley of the Post Office after 4pm on December 23, and you believe you are a victim, contact the Police Department at (909) 399-5411,” Claremont Police said. |
