Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor WHITTIER - A gang member known to Sheriff’s deputies was arrested in connection with a Claremont Kidnapping Saturday.
Julian Rene Delayo, 41, from Whittier, was caught in a nearby yard after fleeing Claremont officers in the 8300 block of Summerfield Avenue in Whittier. Delayo is accused of kidnapping the mother of his two children, Claremont Police said. Claremont officers were called to a home in the 700 block of San Jose Avenue around 1:34 a.m. on a battery report. Family members said Delayo abducted the 28-year-old woman from the home and drove her away, Claremont Police said. Sheriff’s Deputies with the Pico Rivera/Norwalk Station checked Delayo’s home after Claremont Police requested they check his home. His vehicle was found parked there. Delayo fled through the back of the home once Claremont officers arrived and made contact with him. Just before 9 a.m., Delayo was found in a nearby yard after an extensive search by Claremont Police and Sheriff’s deputies. The victim was found in the home and unharmed. Delayo was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon and obstruction of justice. he is being held in lieu of $220,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Pomona Courthouse June 12. |
