Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - Police are searching for a suspect who threatened to shoot a tow truck driver and Claremont officers after two people were arrested at a traffic stop August 14.
The man approached a tow truck driver who was towing a vehicle away from Indian Hill Boulevard south of Arrow Highway and pointed his finger at him as if he wanted to shoot him, according to the Claremont Police Department. The man allegedly threaten to shoot the tow truck driver and any Claremont police officer who arrived to the scene. He also attempted to make his way into the tow truck, but was pulled away by the driver, Claremont police said. The driver ran away from the truck after the man reached for his waistband and claimed he was going to wait in the bushes to shoot arriving Claremont officers. A search conducted by Claremont officers, Pomona police officers, a K9 and a helicopter yielded no suspect. It is not publicly clear what connection the man has to the two people who were arrested during the traffic stop on Indian Hill Boulevard. An alleged DUI a driver was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday. The passenger was also arrested after officers discovered the passenger had an outstanding federal probation warrant for human smuggling, Claremont police said. The man who threaten the tow truck driver and police is described as a light skin Hispanic or white man who stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, has short dark hair and wore a light blue shirt and blue jean pants.
