DIAMOND BAR - Portions of the 60 freeway at the 57 interchange remain closed while the California Highway Patrol investigates a possible shooting from late Tuesday night. At 5:47 a.m., the California Highway Patrol extending the Sig Alert for an additional hour. The eastbound and westbound connector roads to the southbound 57 freeway are closed, as well as the westbound 60 carpooling to fly over to the southbound 57 and The northbound, grand Ave., on ramp to the westbound of 60 freeway are also closed, according to Caltrans. The occupants of a white sedan were fired upon reportedly in the Diamond Bar area. For reasons unknown, the white sedan was driven to the Costa Mesa area. A rear passenger died. A front passenger sustained injuries, but will survive. The driver was not hurt, according to ABC 7 news. Authorities were called to a reported vehicle to vehicle shooting near Diamond Bar Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 1. A truck was also apparently struck by gunfire, but no one was injured. Video taken at the scene of the investigation showed a pickup truck stopped in a parking lot, CHP officers interviewed a family that occupied the truck. Jianchun Li was arrested at 2:25 p.m. He is being held in lieu of $4 million bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. ABC7 News revealed that the location was described by neighbors as care facility for the elderly and the neighbors witnessed caretakers exiting the location with their hands up at the order of deputies. Li has a scheduled appearance in Pomona Superior Court Tuesday, June 27/ DIAMOND BAR - Two women were found dead in a neighborhood early Saturday and a suspect has been detained. First responders were sent to a residential area in the 23800 block of Sapphire Canyon Road around 8:07 a.m. June 24. Both women were declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “A person of interest is detained in connection with the two deaths in this case where foul play is suspected,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Investigators are reassuring the community that there is no safety concern at this time. Investigators have yet to reveal any possible motive, nor have they revealed the likely method used in the deaths. Firefighters earlier requested a second-alarm response to a brush fire near the southbound 57 freeway and Brea Canyon Cutoff Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The Orange County Fire Department is assisting. Second-alarm resources will be sent away shortly. The California Highway patrol responded to report have a sedan versus a big rig on the shoulder of the eastbound 60 freeway under the 57 freeway overpass just after 6 a.m. May 1. Passersby reported seeing a woman in sweatpants and a bra laying in traffic lanes just ahead of the crash, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It is not yet clear if the woman died as a result of the fire, or if she was struck by a passing vehicle. It was also not clear if there were any other injuries reported. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A grass fire is being extinguished by several Los Angeles County fire units after a silver compact vehicle went off the eastbound 60 freeway and crashed down an embankment.
The fire is confined to the island area between the eastbound 60 freeway and the Diamond Bar Boulevard offramp, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. At least two ambulances have been requested to treat the injured. The severity of injuries is not immediately known. The No. 4 lane and the off ramp are closed while firefighters work, the California Highway Patrol reports. The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 7:20 a.m. July 11. At least one caller reported that a silver sports vehicle was driving erratically before it crashed down the embankment. All occupants in the silver sports vehicle were able to self extricate. A passerby reported that one person with blood on his face was seen sitting on the offramp, according to California Highway patrol traffic logs. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 2:18 P.M. - The Brea Fire in Diamond Bar has been held to 16 acres. Forward progress has been stopped, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. DIAMOND BAR – A 10-to-15-acre fire is burning near the 57 freeway and Brea Canyon Road, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said Wednesday. The fire was reported around 11:50 a.m. and is burning with a moderate rate of spread. It is unclear if any structures are threatened. Authorities are planning, or already have a full closure of northbound lanes at the border with Orange County. Traffic will be diverted off at Lambert Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Flames already witnessed jumping freeway lanes to the opposite side. No other suspects are apparently outstanding in the 1000 block of Banner Ridge Road where a suspect was taken into custody after fleeing through residential yards just before 11:30 a.m.
A Diamond Bar deputy assisted Pomona Police as they pursued the driver through Diamond Bar streets. It is unclear why Pomona Police were chasing the suspect who requested medics after being taken into custody. The death was discovered after 3 p.m. in the 21000 block of Trigger Lane, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Los Angeles County Firefighters we’re called to the location at 3:06 p.m. It is unclear if deputies have identified a suspect. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A man was severely beaten, left bloodied and semi-conscious in a residential neighborhood Sunday night after being attacked by two suspects who took cash from him, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Evergreen Springs Drive around 10 p.m. January 6. Possibly two men approached the victim, beat him and stole $20,000, a cellphone and his wallet, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station crime broadcast.
“He [the victim] was pretty bloodied up when we got there,” said Sgt. D. Luter of the Industry Sheriff’s Station. “There were no weapons. It was all hands and feet.”
Deputies are still acquiring details, but believe the victim may have come home with casino winnings. The suspects may have followed the victim home, Luter said. The victim was hospitalized. Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or the suspects fleeing the scene is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station at 626-330-3322. The fire is burning in the 500 block of South Bellow Court. Firefighters on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the roof of the home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched at 9:22 p.m. Two searches of the home yield no victims. |
