CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy may be looking for work in the near future, after he was arrested and accused of committing thefts while on duty. The deputy who served the Diamond Bar/Walnut area was arrested May 14, was booked on suspicion of grand theft, issued a citation and released that same day. The allegations surfaced May 13, according to KNBC4 News. The deputy was apparently relieved of duty, KNBC4 News was told. The department did not provide the name of the deputy, but this reporter conducted a thorough analysis of Sheriff’s booking logs for all stations in Los Angeles County for the week of May 11. Manuel Enriquez, 41, was arrested May 14 by the Sheriff’s Internal Criminal Investigation Bureau. His listed occupation: sheriff’s deputy. He was booked at the Sheriff’s Cerritos Station, although the department neglected to list the crimes in the booking log. "The Department takes all allegations of criminal misconduct seriously," according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. "Any employee who violates the law or breaches the public's trust will be held accountable, regardless of their position or badge." Department officials did not elaborate when and where the alleged thefts occurred.
