Deputies did not state if the suspects were armed. The suspects fled northbound on Buena Vista Street in a Toyota sedan. The unidentified victim was reported dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies have yet to disclose the possible type of injuries the victim received. The grand theft occurred at T-Mobile, 1088 Huntington Dr., at 1 p.m. The suspects’ faces were partially covered when they entered and began taking the property once the security cords were cut, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The suspects fled into a tan four-door Mercedes-Benz E320. The loss was more than $9,850, deputies said. The suspects also caused $2,500 damage to a display rack. The petty theft occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the convenience store, 1802 Huntington Dr. The man and woman entered the store and lingered for 30 minutes. The woman and distracted the clerk by calling him to the rear of the store to clean up a beer bottle she broke on the floor, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
The man capitalized on the distracted clerk by taking $900 in lottery tickets from behind the front counter, deputies said. Both the man and woman fled the 7-Eleven together and ran out of view, deputies said. The burglary occurred in the 300 block of Mel Canyon Road between 7:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. October 15. Deputies determined an unknown number of suspects gained access through an unlocked bedroom window, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Several electronic devices and money was taken. It is unclear if deputies have a description of a suspect or suspects. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - A man in a surgical mask took approximately $7,000 in lottery tickets from a local smoke shop October 6, deputies said. The robbery occurred inside a smoke shop, 1144 Huntington Dr. The suspect walked in already wearing the surgical mask and asked to enter the cigar room. After briefly entering the cigar room exited and went for the tickets, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
“The suspect exited, grabbed a case containing eight rolls of lottery tickets and ran out of the location,” deputies said. The suspect was only described as a Black man in a white surgical mask. No clothing description was available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - Deputies are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon after a man walked up to his victim, opened a knife and sliced his stomach. Deputies were called to Walmart, 1600 Mountain Ave., around 6:20 p.m. October 10 to investigate the assault. The victim sustained a one-inch laceration to his stomach and claimed the attack was unprovoked, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The victim was standing outside the adjacent McDonald’s and was talking on his phone when the attack occurred.
The suspect, described as a Caucasian man, folded the knife and walked from the store. The attack was caught on camera and the investigation is ongoing, deputies said. The victim refused medical treatment. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - A man was arrested September 15 for drug-related offenses after he fled with a group of transients from a brush fire started at the San Gabriel River. The fire ultimately burned a 50-foot by 50-foot spot in the riverbed near the 15900 block of Foothill Boulevard in the late afternoon, not long after a 12-acre brush fire ignited at nearby Santa Fe Dam that same day. Firefighters reported about 10 transients fled the scene of the fire.
One man was detained by deputies and he denied sparking the small fire. Methamphetamine, however, was found on him during a search, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies arrested the publicly-unidentified man on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. The unidentified suspect was identified after the victim, whose purse was taken at knifepoint, provided additional information to detectives, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The robbery occurred August 17 around 4:08 a.m. The victim is the owner of Le Donuts, 1802 Huntington Dr., where the crime occurred the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
“After further investigation, the suspect, who apparently resides with his girlfriend across the street from the donut shop, was positively identified and arrested without incident,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies arrived to a home in the 1900 block of Huntington Drive just after 6:30 p.m. and found the naked, bloody man. The man was destroying personal property by throwing it out the window and he received numerous lacerations from broken glass, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “After further investigation, it was determined the male was under the influence of a controlled substance,” deputies said. |
