CityWatch Editor EL MONTE - After nearly 4 hours, an armed suspect was taken into custody after refusing to exit a home Sunday. The suspect allegedly made threats against his father, stating he wanted to kill him, barricaded himself instead of a home and refused to comply with orders to surrender. Officers were sent to a home in the 12400 block of Clinton Street around 11:48 a.m. July 7, according to the El Monte Police Department. El Monte Police dispatchers were notified via 911 text of the unfolding incident. After making verbal contact with the texter, dispatchers were told that the suspect also allegedly pointed a gun at a friend, according to Lt. Knight of the El Monte Police Department. Just after the victims inside the house evacuated, officers heard a single gunshot go off. SWAT officers eventually arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody, night told SGV CityWatch.
