Brian Fischer, 34, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The cause of death has been deferred, pending additional investigation. Fischer may have been dead in the van for possibly a few days before being discovered. Officers were called to investigate the U-Haul van after a person noticed a large amount of flies around the vehicle and liquids coming from it, according to Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department Investigations Bureau in a previous interview. Officers were called around 9:39 a.m. September 14 to investigate the Econoline U-Haul van in the 700 block of East Claraday Street, according to Lt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – Two 16-year-old boys were taken to juvenile hall after allegedly stealing a woman’s purse in the Glendora Village Sunday, but Good Samaritans put a stop to it.
The robbery occurred around 1:15 p.m. One of the teens snatched the purse from the woman who was sitting down. The teen fled to a waiting vehicle driven by the other teen, according to the Glendora Police Department. “…several good Samaritans in the area came to the aid of the victim. Together they were able to retrieve the stolen purse and detain the subject and the getaway driver,” according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. One of the teens was wanted on a no-bail warrant issued in San Bernardino. “It is unknown why they were in Glendora, but appears that they were specifically looking for easy- to-grab items to steal,” according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. A 16-year-old from Upland and a 16-year-old from Colton were both booked on suspicion of robbery. The person may have been dead in the van for possibly a few days before being discovered. Officers were called to investigate the U-Haul van after a person noticed a large amount of flies around the vehicle and liquids coming from it, according to Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department Investigations Bureau. The caller also said they thought they saw a person inside the U-Haul van. The victim is described as a man. He was pronounced dead at 9:56 a.m., according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Officers were called around 9:39 a.m. to investigate the Econoline U-Haul van in the 700 block of East Claraday Street, according to Lt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department. At this point in the investigation, detectives do not believe the death resulted from anything criminal, Stabio told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - About 400 marijuana plants were removed from a home that caught fire in the northern end of Glendora Thursday afternoon, a police sergeant said.
No one was found inside the home after firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames in the 600 block of West La Crosse Street. Firefighters reported flames from one side of the home believed to be caused by an electrical issue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was reported before 2:50 p.m. September 2. All the plants were seized and removed from the single-story home that afternoon, Layaye told SGV CityWatch. The house was set up with ventilation and irrigation systems. It was not immediately clear how long the operation was running before being discovered. No arrests were made at the time the interview was conducted Friday afternoon. Detectives were in the process of contacting the home owner, Layaye told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Lanes have cleared and a Sig Alert has been canceled after a collision sent an LAPD motorcycle officer to the hospital Wednesday.
The collision occurred on the westbound 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. September 1, causing a Sig Alert for the HOV and No. 1 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The extent of the officer’s injuries is unclear. As many as two other vehicles were involved in addition to the LAPD motorcycle officer. It is unclear if the officer was conducting a traffic stop when the crash occurred, according to the CHP. The roadway was cleared just before 6:30 a.m. |
