Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man was hospitalized Saturday after being electrocuted while clearing tree branches from power lines. The man was working in the 800 block of East Huerta Verde Drive when he struck an overhead power line with a piece of equipment November 30. The man was electrocuted and fell unconscious for an unknown duration, said Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department. “He regained consciousness while up in the tree and was able to maneuver himself down,” Stabio said, adding that his coworkers assisted in getting him down.
The man was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and is expected to survive Stabio said. A small fire ignited in the tree and live wires fell in the area, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. 28 customers are reportedly without electricity and power may not be restored until 9 a.m. December 1, according to information provided by Southern California Edison. The solo crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on South Barranca Avenue north of Gladstone Street November 26. The driver was pronounced dead after arriving to the hospital, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver was northbound in the 1200 block of South Barranca Avenue when the crash occurred. The cause is under investigation. Mark Guerrero, 56, was identified by Investigator Ryan Parraz of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Guerrero is a resident of Glendora. Before the pursuit even began, 41-year-old stolen vehicle suspect Richard Brady allegedly struck a Glendora officer and struck two Glendora Police vehicles while attempting to elude capture, the Glendora Police Department announced. A stolen SUV was discovered in an undisclosed motel parking lot. Glendora officers and detectives attempted to detain Brady as he was leaving a motel room, but he was able to get away, Glendora Police said. Brady struck the officer, patrol cars and an additional parked vehicle before even leaving the parking lot. Brady fled west on the 210 freeway until he crashed near Citrus Avenue and fled on foot, but he caught with the assistance of Azusa Police officers, Glendora Police said. “Brady is on probation for vehicle theft and he also had an arrest warrant for theft,” Glendora Police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the case against Brady, charging him with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless evading, vehicle theft and forgery. The officer who was struck sustained injuries and has since returned to work, Glendora Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man is facing multiple counts after two victims came forward with allegations of sex abuse from 10 years ago. Delfino Agama, 40, a former Glendora resident, was arrested November 6 within nine hours of officers taking an initial report from two victims, according to the Glendora Police Department. The victims were between the ages of 7 and 11 years old when the alleged crimes occurred in 2009. “Glendora Detectives immediately began working on the case and were able to obtain evidence linking the suspect to the alleged crimes,” Glendora Police said in a written statement. Agama was charged with seven felonies. Los Angeles County Superior Court records show Agama was charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14, one count of continuous sex abuse of a child, and one count of sex acts with a child under the age of 10.
Agama is being held in lieu of nearly $6.4 million bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pomona Superior Court December 17, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Four suspects took off with an estimated $15,000 in cell phones, watches and iPads from the display cases at a T-Mobile store Wednesday. The robbery was reported at the T-Mobile store, 541 S. Grand Ave., at 6:32 p.m. November 6. Four suspects in hooded sweatshirts entered, took the merchandise and pushed an employee as they fled, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. As police responded, they attempted to pull a driver over believed to be involved in the robbery. The driver stopped in the 600 block of South Vermont Avenue was not involved, but was eventually arrested on suspicion of DUI, DeMond said.
The employee was uninjured. The suspects wore the hoods over their faces. They were only described to police as possible Hispanic juveniles, DeMond said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - One burglary suspect is in custody after fleeing the scene of a home burglary and after allegedly fighting with an officer Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to a home in the 900 block of South Bradish Avenue at 4:48 p.m. October 31. A vigilant neighbor reported a burglary in progress, according to Lt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department. Police arrived to the home and saw the suspect fleeing. The suspect reportedly refused to comply with commands to stop. Officers tried to detain the suspect and a fight began, Barrett said. The suspect continued to run. Officers established a perimeter and were able to arrest him. The officer received some scrapes and bruises. The suspect was hospitalized as a precaution before being cleared for booking, Barrett said. Officers found signs of forced entry into the home, Barrett said. Lewis Eugene Erlenmeyer, 54, was arrested in the 2200 block of East Baseline Road. He was booked on suspicion of residential burglary, obstructing or resisting an executive officer and violating his parole, according to a Glendora Police booking records. Erlenmeyer is being held without bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse November 4. |
