Investigators are seeking one count of attempted murder against Eddy Velarde, 33, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Officers encountered a man who said he was targeted by a an unknown man who fired several rounds at him in the parking lot of Tuesday morning, 1000 E. Route 66, around 2:19 a.m. February 5. He was not injured, according to the Glendora Police Department. After the argument, the suspect, later identified as Velarde, returned with a handgun and opened fire, Glendora police said. Investigators were able to identify and locate Velarde who was arrested later that night in Glendora around 8:50 p.m. The handgun investigators allege was used in the shooting was recovered from Velarde’s possession, Glendora Police said. The case will be filed this week with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Riverside man Aaron Michael Beierschmitt, 33, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder after turning himself in. He was arrested at the Glendora Police Department at 11:27 p.m. August 4, according to Los Angeles County booking records. The stabbing was reported at Our Place, 240 E. Route 66, around 12:43 a.m. Sunday. Police arrived and found a man suffering from a substantial stab wound to an unspecified area of his body, according to Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department. “Detectives worked through Sunday to identify and locate the suspect. Late Sunday night, detectives convinced 33-year-old Aaron Beierschmitt of Riverside to turn himself in. Beierschmitt, who is currently on Post-Release Community Supervision, was arrested without incident,” Glendora Police said in a written statement.
The victim was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. The wound preliminarily was deemed not life-threatening, Stabio said. Azusa Police assisted Glendora officers at the scene. The case against Beierschmitt was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which filed charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Glendora Police said. Beierschmitt is being held in lieu of nearly $ 1.1 million bail. |
