Baldemar Sandoval was an LAPD officer with the agency’s Central Division, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. “With great sadness I share that earlier this morning a police officer on his way home from work was involved in a traffic collision on the 210 freeway,” according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore. “I send my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and friends as we mourn this tragedy.” First responders were sent to the crash just after 2:30 a.m. on the east 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue. The big rig was stopped in the middle lanes of traffic. A black sedan was seen twisted around the tractor trailer. Why the crash happened is under investigation. Los Angeles County Firefighters Report that one person died at the scene, according to radio traffic. One patient was extricated and transported in full arrest. The closure affects the 1400 block of East Route 66, which is just west of Compromise Line Road. The Glendora Police Department issued a message to warn drivers of the road closure. Officers responded to 600 block of West Bridwell Street around 8:10 a.m. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. A description of the victim was not provided. Investigators stated a male adult is the suspect. The victim was treated for his injuries and was released from the hospital, according to Detective Sergeant Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department.
GLENDORA - A suspect accused of shooting a man inside a supermarket Monday was arrested in Pomona, the Glendora Police Department announced. Larry Ronnie Bravo, 25, was found in Pomona at Noon June 21 and taken into custody, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting was not random and stemmed from a likely ongoing domestic issue. Bravo shot his victim inside Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd., according to the Glendora Police Department. First responders were called to the supermarket around 8:59 p.m. Police officers and Los Angeles County firefighters treated the victim and he was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported gunshot victim in the area of Grand Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 9 p.m. Monday, June 20. One patient was transported. The victim’s condition was not publicly known, according to Dispatch Supervisor Jeremy Stafford of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Users of the Ring app reported a shooting at or near Vons, 435 W. Foothill Blvd. A Glendora resident who was out for an evening walk two streets away from the Vons heard at least two gunshots soon followed by the wailing of police sirens. “We were in the parking lot shortly after the cops arrived on scene and the fire trucks were there as well. The fire trucks were blocking the views of the entrance. Cops were hustling around for supplies from trunks,” according to the resident who asked her name not be used. “The scene was VERY active and we chose to get out for safety reasons as cops were just rushing in and it didn’t seem like it was a contained scene yet,” according to the resident. Fire trucks had already left the scene and crime scene tape was set up outside the store when the resident returned 20 to 30 minutes later. Employees were standing at the front entrance along with other officers. Other officers appear to be searching at least one vehicle, according to the resident. It is unclear if anyone is in custody. Deputies ended their containment search around 10:30 a.m. after a suspect could not be found, according to Deputy Shawn Dubusky of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Several people were initially detained, but their current status was not immediately known, Dubusky told SGV CityWatch. GLENDORA - Deputies are searching for a suspect after possible gunfire was heard during an eviction service, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies were serving an eviction notice at the apartment complex in the 100 block of East Route 66 just after 8:30 a.m. they heard what they believed were several rounds of gunfire, according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. It is unclear if deputies at the scene have found ballistics evidence. No one was injured. the eviction notice was being served at Avalon Glendora, 121 E. Route 66. When eviction notices are served, deputies from a specific courthouse issue the notice, Medrano told SGV CityWatch. The deputies are being assisted by deputies from the Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Someone cleaning out a relatives basement located what appears to be dynamite around 1:30 p.m. January 30. Glendora officers arrived to the scene and after seeing a picture of the suspicious items decided to call bomb squad technicians, according to Sgt. Shawna Celello of the Glendora Police Department. “They are advising that it is unstable and they are in the process of stabilizing it and removing it from the home,” Celello told SGV CityWatch. And estimated 25 residences have been evacuated in the area. The Glendora Police Department is asking residents and curious onlookers to stay away from the 200 block of East Bennet Avenue. Access to the 200 block of East Bennett Avenue is blocked. The American Legion Building, 159 N. Cullen Ave., is serving as a evacuation center for residents only, Celello told SGV CityWatch. While there are no known Coronavirus cases affecting the college, administrators made the decision Wednesday out of an abundance of caution. Mot in-person classes will transition to remote instruction March 23 through April 20, according to Citrus College in a written statement. Health science classes, labs, Career Technical Education offerings, performing arts and other courses requiring face-to-face instruction will continue to meet on campus as scheduled, school administrators said. Public events, gatherings, meetings and all non-essential public gatherings will be postponed or canceled. Meetings may be delivered remotely, school administrators said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Three males and three females were detained at the end of an hours-long barricade in a Glendora motel after an Uber driver was found stabbed Monday.
The victim was found with several wounds by officers arriving to a reported stabbing at 12:55 p.m. February 17. The suspect took refuge in the Glendora Motel, 330 W. Route 66, Glendora Police said. The victim was treated on scene by paramedics and was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The regional Foothills Special Enforcement Team, a SWAT team made of officers from nearby police departments, responded to assist in apprehending the people barricaded inside one of the hotel rooms. After hours of negotiations, the six exited the motel and where detained. One of the six was transported to an area hospital for undisclosed reasons. |
