The 65-year-old man was found dead inside his RV in the store’s lot, 1788 S. Barranca Ave. First responders were called at 4:37 p.m. who declared the man dead, according to Lt. Mike Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner will determine cause of death. Family of the dead man agreed to arrange to have the RV towed from the 99 Cents Only Store lot. It remained there as of Sunday, May 7. Baldemar Sandoval was an LAPD officer with the agency’s Central Division, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. “With great sadness I share that earlier this morning a police officer on his way home from work was involved in a traffic collision on the 210 freeway,” according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore. “I send my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and friends as we mourn this tragedy.” First responders were sent to the crash just after 2:30 a.m. on the east 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue. The big rig was stopped in the middle lanes of traffic. A black sedan was seen twisted around the tractor trailer. Why the crash happened is under investigation. Luke Pruitt, a 19-year-old Claremont resident, was the motorcyclist who died at the crash scene at Grand Avenue and Mauna Loa Avenue, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Pruitt, a Claremont High School graduate, is listed as a defensive lineman with the Citrus College football team and was playing in his sophomore year with the community college. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were made about the injury crash, which occurred around 11:23 a.m. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on Pruitt, according to Sgt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Pruitt was in his second season playing with the Owls and one of the Owls' team captains, According to a statement from the Citrus College Athletics program. "Luke was a defining presence for our program," according to Citrus College Head Football Coach Brandon Hayashi in a written statement. "He was a leader on and off the field, always greeting everyone with a big smile. We are devastated by this loss." Joseph Castle, 44, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died of multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was homicide. Officers responded to 600 block of West Bridwell Street around 8:10 a.m. to numerous calls of a shooting, according to the Glendora Police Department. One victim, Castle, was found shot and still seated in a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Police and firefighters were called around 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to the Glendora Walmart parking lot, 1950 Auto Center Dr., June 2 on a report of a man down possibly suffering a medical emergency. The man was pronounced dead there, according to Lt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Officers believe the man died from natural causes, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. Donna Emery, 55, was the woman found dead at Finkbiner Park, 160 N. Wabash Ave. May 23. Her cause of death was deferred, pending additional investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Police and firefighters were called to the park at 1:08 p.m. It was not immediately clear where the death occurred at the park, or what led Glendora Police officers to quickly deduce that it was a suicide. Police were called to Finkbiner Park, 160 N. Wabash Ave., on a reported suicide at 1:08 p.m. A deceased female was located. The area was taped off from the public for coroner investigators to work, according to the Glendora Police Department. The woman was described as being in her 50s. Her identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. It was not immediately clear where the death occurred at the park, or what led Glendora Police officers to quickly deduce that it was a suicide.
