Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Two men and one woman are facing residential burglary charges after fleeing from officers and crashing during their escape Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a home burglary in progress in the 100 block of North Catherine Park Drive just before 3 p.m. Witnesses were able to provide a suspect vehicle description. Officers found the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, according to Lt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The driver failed to stop and attempted to elude officers. The driver reportedly went through a red light at Glendora Avenue and Route 66 where the suspect broadsided an SUV, which turned over. Two other vehicles were struck during the crash, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. The two male suspects were able to escape on foot and left their female compatriot behind. With the help of a Pasadena Police helicopter and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station, the two suspects were taken into custody in a rear yard in the 600 block of South Minnesota Avenue, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. A driver in one of the vehicles struck was hospitalized. Henderson wasn’t sure if any property was successfully taken from the home. Booking information for the suspects is still unavailable. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Three people were arrested at the end of a short-lived escape after the driver crashed in front of a Glendora home Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of a blue minivan sped away from a deputy on westbound Gladstone Street near Lone Hill Avenue February 23. The driver and two passengers ran after crashing on the lawn of a home at Gladstone Street and Valley Center Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The incident occurred sometime before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. A patrol deputy attempted to stop the driver for multiple vehicle code violations, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The suspects may have tried to change their clothing in an attempt to alter their appearance, according to deputies at the scene of the crash. After the suspects ran, a containment was set up and all three suspects were soon found and taken into custody, the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station said. Deputies found what is believed to be stolen property inside the van, items including gardening equipment. All three male suspects were booked on suspicion of various charges, including possession of stolen property. Sgt. Saenz of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station detective bureau provided names of the arrestees: Daniel Erlander Cortez, 38; Michael Rodriguez, 21; and Miguel Rebolar, 31. All three men are from Pasadena. Cortez posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 1. Rodriguez was released on penal code 849(B)(1), citing insufficient/inadmissible evidence, or grounds for arrest. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch AZUSA - A suspect in a stolen car was caught after a brief pursuit by Glendora officers Thursday night.
The driver of the car stolen from Irvine refused to stop for Glendora offices after they noticed the older-model vehicle had paper plates at Gladstone Street and Barranca Avenue, said Glendora Police Sgt. Mike Randazzo. The officer initiated the traffic stop around 8:30 p.m. The driver sped along surface streets came to a dead end in the 5900 block of Rockvale Avenue where both occupants ditched the stolen ride, Randazzo said. A search by Glendora Police, Azusa Police and San Dimas Sheriff’s deputies yielded the arrest of the driver, 28-year-old Abraham Roman-Hernandez, in the 18000 block of Alford Street. The driver was hiding in a resident’s yard, Randazzo said. Hernandez listed Azusa as his city of residence, Randazzo said. Roman-Hernandez was booked on suspicion of unlawfully taking a vehicle, felony evading police, possessing a controlled substance and delaying an officer. Roman-Hernandez is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in West Covina Superior Court September 17. |
