“One of the students overheard somebody say something to the effect of ‘I have a gun’ and that’s all they heard,” according to Sgt. Shawna Celello of the Glendora Police Department. “There was no clarification to what kind of gun it was and there was no clarification as to where that gun was.” Police were dispatched to Arrow High School, 1505 S. sunflower Ave., around 10:32 a.m. Friday, March 17. The student who overheard the talk of a weapon wasn’t able to identify the student who said it. Arrow High School, 1505 S. Sunflower Ave., was briefly locked down as a precaution. Officers responded to the school and arrested the unnamed student on suspicion of criminal threats, according to the Glendora Police Department. One other suspect remains outstanding, with a containment and search focusing on the neighborhood south of the scene of the crime — Lamas Jewelry, 750 Route 66. The outstanding suspect is a black man with a thin build. He has short dreadlocks with hair shaved on the sides of his head and wore a black jacket or white shirt and blue jean pants, Glendora Police said. The Foothills Special Enforcement Team is working to locate a suspect. As of 5:15 p.m. a contingent of SWAT team members followed by a Glendora Police cruiser down Vecino Drive south of Route 66 where a search continues. A jewelry heist occurred around 12:15 p.m. September 6. As Glendora Police arrived, a woman was detained in a nearby vehicle. She was eventually arrested. The two fleeing suspects ran through the rear exit of the jewelry store. Police encountered an armed man in a parking lot in the 600 block of Route 66 where the shooting occurred after the suspect reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s commands, according to Lt. Robert Westphalia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Firefighters arrived at 12:34 p.m. and transported the injured suspect to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect still outstanding is a black man with a thin build, has short dreadlocks and the sides of his head are shaved. Details are few regarding the circumstances of the shooting that took place near the 600 block of West Route 66 September 6. Firefighters were summoned to the scene at 12:30 p.m., arrived at 12:34 p.m. and transported one gunshot victim to the hospital in unknown condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Nearby Stanton Elementary School is on lockdown. Students will be taken by bus to Citrus College Stadium Lot on the south side. Parents are encouraged to enter off of Citrus and then walk to the parking lot to be reunited with their children, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting reportedly occurred during a jewelry store robbery near Route 66 and Vecino Drive. It is unclear if a suspect was hit by gunfire or if any suspects remain at-large.
