The driver died at the scene of the crash on eastbound Foothill Boulevard west of Pennsylvania Avenue. The crash occurred around 3:08 p.m. March 31. The driver is Cynthia Louise Dudley, a 66-year-old Azusa resident. Other than blunt trauma, no other cause or other significant conditions were listed. The crash was deemed an accident, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The Glendora Police Major Accident Investigation Team preliminarily believes impairment was not a factor and Dudley was possibly traveling at the posted 40-mile-per-hour speed limit, according to Lt. Mike Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Dudley was the only occupant in the crashed vehicle. A second vehicle was involved in the crash, but no one else suffered injuries, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. Officers arrived to a parking structure near the AMC 12 theaters on the report of a possible catalytic converter theft in progress. After locating a suspect vehicle, officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver eventually stopped in the middle of the street in the 800 block of South Cerritos Avenue in Azusa. The two juveniles inside the vehicle ran, but were quickly arrested. Baldemar Sandoval was an LAPD officer with the agency’s Central Division, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. “With great sadness I share that earlier this morning a police officer on his way home from work was involved in a traffic collision on the 210 freeway,” according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore. “I send my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and friends as we mourn this tragedy.” First responders were sent to the crash just after 2:30 a.m. on the east 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue. The big rig was stopped in the middle lanes of traffic. A black sedan was seen twisted around the tractor trailer. Why the crash happened is under investigation. The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes remain blocked during the investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol. First responders were sent to the crash just after 2:30 a.m. April 15. ABC7 News reports the Los Angeles Police Department is also at the crash scene, but the California Highway Patrol cannot confirm LAPD’s involvement. During the pursuit, a passenger tossed a handgun from the vehicle on the westbound 210 freeway just before the 605 freeway interchange. Officers ultimately recovered the gun, as well as narcotics and instruments described as burglary tools, according to the Glendora Police Department. The department’s Community Impact Team and detectives were conducting enforcement patrols in areas saturated by community complaints of drug sales occurring. A traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle whose driver reportedly committed several vehicle code violations, but the driver refused to stop, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver and passenger were taken into custody. Arrested were Julia Victoria Barbosa, 24, and Joseph Jesse Marquez, 21. Barbosa was booked on suspicion of evading an officer with wonton disregard for public safety, identity theft, possessing a controlled substance, possessing burglary tools and a probation violation, according to Glendora Police arrest records. Marquez was booked on suspicion of possessing counterfeit items, possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance while armed and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to Glendora Police arrest records. Marquez posted $50,000 bail and was released February 19. Barbosa is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. She has pending future court date from a previous crime. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – Regional traffic collision investigators are determining what led to a crash between a motorcycle and SUV that killed a Claremont man October 4. Luke Pruitt, a 19-year-old Claremont resident, was the motorcyclist who died at the crash scene at Grand Avenue and Mauna Loa Avenue, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Pruitt, a Claremont High School graduate, is listed as a defensive lineman with the Citrus College football team and was playing in his sophomore year with the community college. Multiple 9-1-1 calls were made about the injury crash, which occurred around 11:23 a.m. Paramedics performed life-saving measures on Pruitt, according to Sgt. Michael Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. Pruitt was in his second season playing with the Owls and one of the Owls' team captains, According to a statement from the Citrus College Athletics program. "Luke was a defining presence for our program," according to Citrus College Head Football Coach Brandon Hayashi in a written statement. "He was a leader on and off the field, always greeting everyone with a big smile. We are devastated by this loss." Traffic collision investigators from the La Verne and Azusa Police departments assisted Glendora detectives with the investigation, Henderson told SGV CityWatch. The collision was dispatched to first responders around 11:08 p.m. at Route 66 and Compromise Line Road July 6. The driver was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, according to Sgt. Matt Fenner of the Glendora Police Department. Fenner did not immediately know if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving played a role in the crash. Few details are available right now, but the shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. August 4. One person was struck by gunfire, according to Sgt. Henderson of the Glendora Police Department. The person struck by gunfire was taken to an area hospital where he died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Investigators have yet to disclose the circumstances that led to the police shooting. The crash occurred just before 1 a.m. on the westbound 210 freeway just east of Glendora Avenue June 14. The woman walked into the No. 4 lane of the freeway from the shoulder where the semi driver was approaching. The driver swerved to the left and the trailer he was hauling struck the woman, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Sig Alert was issued for the HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes of traffic at 1:15 a.m. The sigalert was canceled at 4 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA – Major work to reconstruct underground utilities, communication lines and more will require Lone Hill Avenue to close beginning May 3.
The work is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and conclude Friday, May 7 at 7 a.m. All vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured, according to the Gold Line Foothill Construction Authority. The closure only affects Lone Hill Avenue between Auto Centre Drive and Gladstone Street, the Construction Authority said. More closures will be coming to Glendora. Contingent on the current Elwood Street Closure at the railroad tracks ending May 11, closures at Pasadena Avenue and Loraine Avenue will commence. The full closure at Pasadena Avenue is scheduled to begin May 11 and last until November 11. The full closure of Loraine Avenue is scheduled to begin May 12 and end August 26, the Construction Authority said. The access road to the Glendora City Maintenance Yard will be permanently closed and used for the L Line completion, as that land is part of the L Line right of way, the Construction Authority said.
