Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES – A 21-year-old Glendora man was named over the weekend as the alleged armed suspect shot and killed by police at a Glendora intersection.
Dylan Harmer was fatally shot by Azusa officers called to assist with a containment and search for the suspect after he allegedly attempted to carjack multiple drivers and allegedly aimed a handgun at police August 4. Glendora officers were called to a domestic violence report after a woman claimed her boyfriend assaulted her and that he was armed with a handgun. The suspect, later identified by the coroner as Harmer, fled the home as police arrived and he allegedly pointed the gun at them, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Glendora officers requested mutual aid from Azusa Police as a containment was set up. Arriving Azusa officers encountered Harmer as he attempted to carjack multiple drivers in the intersection of Glendora Avenue and Route 66. “The suspect turned and pointed a handgun at the officers, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred,” according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Harmer was struck in the upper torso. No one else was injured. Harmer was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A coroner exam is scheduled for Harmer. |
